The Adventures of Fiona - '08 JK Rubicon 2-Door

From the pics it looks like you need some longer front swaybar links. It looks like its pulled pretty tight in a straight line. I had that issue when I put in the 4" lift ranchos when you get that much down travel. I'm glad those worked for ya though. I must have measured like 15 times to make sure they would fit considering I started running them when I only had the 4dr coils and a spacer. But the measurements checked out and I agree the 2dr evo2" ome rears on 37s is a hell of an awesome set up

I do... I have them, but kept burning through drill bits last time I tried installing them 🤪 ... I'll have to try again soon.

I think I went through two or three before giving up after only getting about half way through one hole. 🤣

Did you find a particular bit that finally worked for you?

When installing my lift I had to drill a lot of 1/2" holes along with numerous other sizes. I found that the DeWalt pilot point bits worked really well. Held up and cut fast. They just grab when about to punch through so brace yourself.

Did you use them on your sway bar? I'm pretty sure at least one of the bits it ate up was a DeWalt.

Those are exactly the drill bits I have too and I haven't broke a single one. They do great but yes definitely brace yourself because when they grab they grab hard and my knuckles have their fair share of scars to prove it Haha

Yeah, they are the bits I usually keep on hand for my work and they're great. You're not kidding about them grabbing. I've got a few of those same scars as well. 🤣

They didn't break on me, they just got red hot and dull. I wasn't able to keep enough cutting oil on them to keep up with the drill.

Torqued the control arms again as I was starting to hear that familiar clunk. I've of these days I'm gonna have to pull all the bolts and put some thread lock on them. 🙄

Also replaced the spring mount for my CB antenna. The "heavy duty" spring from Firestik let my 5' antenna wag like a dog's tail with any kind of wind blowing and bouncing around in the trail, fugettaboutit. 🤣

Installed this "super heavy duty" spring from Hustler New-Tronics, retuned the antenna, and problem is now solved! 👍

I did find out in the last run I went on that the chase light bar I run is causing interference with the CB. Not sure if it's because of the grounding strap I installed or if it was doing it before since I haven't used the CB with the chase bar since installing the new one.

I'm gonna rewire my CB direct to the battery and probably get a choker for the LED power lines... Hopefully that will take care of the interference.

I went through the same thing with the fire stick HD spring. After watching a video and seeing the antenna all over the map! I switched it out for the one I had on my 102 whip, that's probably older than I am. [emoji23] problem solved.
I get interference from my LED pods if my squelch is to low. I might have to try the choker idea. I have my CB run straight to the battery with all other power lines separated from them.

I think it may be because the light bar is ground switched. Hopefully grounding the CB to the battery will clean it up.

Ha! You know what, I stole your spring idea! Just realized it was your thread that got me looking for a better spring. I'm gonna steal your shrunken head too. 🤣🤣

Passed her biannual smog check today. 108k miles and still running strong! 😎

One thing that pisses me off, though, is after I did the Seafoam deep soak at 100k she started burning oil. Guess the carbon buildup was keeping the oil in. 🤣

I bumped up to 5W30 this last oil change and it appears to have cut it down by half, so I may go to 10W30 on the next change to see if it gets better.
