The Adventures of Fiona - '08 JK Rubicon 2-Door

Fixed the wiring on the rock lights that got torn up last weekend... Added another puck on each side of the front. Hopefully that will be enough to keep the tires off the fenders. I really don't want to do any more if I can get away with it. Cut more pinch seam in the rear. I think it will be enough now, but we'll find out tomorrow up on Miller Jeep Trail.

Stripped her down and cleaned her up a little for the run tomorrow.

Great shot. Your recent mods really look good[emoji106]

Thanks! 🍻

Why aren't you coming on the run today? 🤔

My immediate problem is another plumbing leak that needs patched today. It's the 4th pinhole this year. The 50 yo copper needs to be replaced asap, and I'm trying to decide whether to do it myself or hire it done.
At least it is cool in the wet crawlspace. Have fun on your run.

That sucks, and that is a small crawl space! Put pex in there and save yourself the money

Yeah, they have short, flexible pieces with the push connectors now... Cut that shit out and replace it with some of those.

That looks like some professional pipe work right there. 😳

I don't want to shit on your thread anymore, but I fixed the leak with only one trip to the hardware store ant two trips through the crawlspace. Plumbers are lined up for complete repipe quotes.
I really haven't heard anything bad about PEX, certainly has a price advantage. I'm pretty much old school though, and have developed recent expertise in sweating pipes together. So I may still do it myself in copper.

Glad you got it patched up... Yeah, sweating pipe isn't a big deal, just a pain in the ass doing it under the house.

Got to put the 37s and suspension mods through the paces yesterday up on the Miller Jeep Trail.

After a little more trimming in the rear and adding one more puck in the front, I think she's pretty much dialed in!

Tried a couple "extra credit" lines that I previously wouldn't have attempted and she handled them with ease! I really think the 2 door on 37s is the perfect setup... Super happy with how things have come together and how she's performing so far. Now to hit some harder trails and put her to the next test!

She looks good James. Did you end up trimming your bumper? Maybe you don't need to anymore? I'm watching your build to plan my next steps.
Seems like you're always changing something up, so its kinda hard to keep track of. Can you post a synopsis of your current suspension setup.

Thanks! Yes, I trimmed it, but I'm still going to hack off the ends and make it a stubby.

Yeah, I need to update the first post, but I'm running EVO 2" Plush Ride springs with 3/4" spacers and Rancho 9000XL shocks for a 4-6" lift in the front. In the rear I'm running 2" OME HD springs with 1 3/4" spacers and Rancho 9000XL shocks for a 2-3" lift. Control arms are a mix of EVO and Currie front and rear. I don't remember which are which right now... I'll get more specific when I update the first post.

Holy crap that much lift from 2" inch springs and a small spacer. I dont get the 4 to 6 inch range - but even 4 inches seems like alot. Is that the same setup in front you had with 35s & you just swapped fenders going to 37s?

Well the 2” evo springs are made to give 2” on a heavier 4 door, so it provides around 3-3.5” on a 2 door.

Lol. I haven't measured since I added the spacer, but it's only about 3.5" lift. The 4-6" shock is Rancho's classification. I went with it because the measurements work for my setup (thanks to desertrunner's meticulous work on his rig 😎).

Yes, other than the spacer and longer shock, it's the same setup I was running. I couldn't run the longer shock until I extended the brake lines (thanks Greer! 👍)

You have to keep in mind that any lift you get ends up being about 1/2 to 1" higher on a 2 door except for maybe the Rancho Sport lift that's specifically designed for the 2 door but steel bumpers, winches, and armor will bring it down a little once the springs settle.

Gotcha. EVO,s website says 'slightly' higher on a 2 door JK, good to have a number.

How much bumpstop are you running? Did you do a trackbar relocation?
