TeraFlex Hinged Tire Carrier Break

Figured Northridge 4x4 would be able to pick up the idea that this product is having problems from a forum they support. This was on the FB today :wonderingWTF:

In all fairness, they're a retailer and are in the business of selling what people want. Somehow, people got it in their heads that this is something they need IN SPITE of the fact that I have yet to see or hear of a single factory hinge break.

That is totally understood. However if I bought a product from a retailer and had issues I would come back to said retailer and ask for product assistant. If the retailer knew about problems and still sold me the product then I would have a problem.

The majority of people that seem to buy this stuff don't know the issues and if they are going to spend that kind of quan on a product you would think they would do a bit of research.

I enjoy the fact that on this forum the discussion is open and truthful when it comes to all products. Although I haven't ordered through Northridge as of yet, from what I read they are a standup group and would hate to know that they are promoting a product when there are known issues. Issues that could hurt other people.

What is the retailer business doing to help a mfg when it comes to a product with a known liability (covered up or not)? I do get that it is not their responsibility and I'm sure they have provided very valuable feedback that the mfg may or may not take into account. I just haven't seen anything.

Well, depending on who you talk to, there isn't a problem with this tire carrier and the multiple photos you see on this thread showing PROOF of them breaking are just the evil attempts by a guy named Eddie to "bash" TeraFlex.

So after the FHJ thread and the revisit of this thread we all need to get off the opinion and get back to the facts and proof. If we get the emotion out of the equation and base it all on fact then maybe just maybe people will see the light. However I feel it may be futile as people tend to be very shaded when they spend A LOT of money for a product. The failure of a person not to do a bit of research prior to a large purchase is very evident when they back up picture and proof of failure with personnel bashing. Thanks for providing an open free forum for the truth
