Ratcheting/Clicking noise help

While I was under my jeep for the last oil change I notices just a few spatters of grease from the Rzeppa joint on the output if my T case feeding the front drive shaft.

No noises an no idea how long it's been there.

Installed a TF leveling kit about 14 months ago, or 38,000km. Jeep has 147,000 Kms on it.

I've wiped clean the bit of grease I saw to see if it comes back a I have no idea when it showed up.

Anyone here had any luck replacing their Rzeppa joint? I see Q tech and 4WP sell a kit to do so. Looks like $130 or so....keep me going until I can upgrade is the thought process.

No plans to push further then say 2.5" kit some day and only mild wheeling almost all DD.

Boot on this shaft looks fine no rips, tears, leaks, or seeping.

No cause for concern now, just want to be ready for when I need to be.

Thanks

I've never heard of anyone replacing the rzeppa. For $130 you are a third of the way to a new 1310 driveshaft from JE Reel or Adams. I would not recommend putting any money into the factory driveshaft.

Guys mine has no grease leaking, boots are fine. I get a ratcheting, clicking sound only until normal engine temp. It's weird... I do have a aev 2.5" lift with 35s on the jk though...and it's now at 70k with stock driveshaft. Been trying to figure this one out. Thanks

Assuming what little grease that is inside the rzeppa hadn't leaked out over time and to the point where you can't really tell, 70k is a lot of miles and that 2.5" lift more than likely gave you more than 3" of actual lift. Like ALL moving parts, bearings WILL wear out especially if they're subjected to abnormal operating conditions.

I agree... the only strange part is - once normal engine temp is reached, the ratcheting noise stops completely. I thought driveshaft noises would be constant regardless of temperature?

Anyone seen driveshaft noise that disappears completely when normal engine temp is reached? I just can't see it. It's definitely a ratcheting noise, like a valve when cold.
