KP's JKUR Build

Your jeep comes with good skid plates that do their job well. There is no need to buy replacements for them. If anything, a skid for your oil pan is about all you need for a manual and some thing for your tranny if you have a 12-up. Trust me, that's all we've been running on our rigs for the last 7 years.

According to my dealership's parts department, my Rubi never had any skid plates nor does any Wrangler on their lot! :cheesy: But that's a story for another time.

There was absolutely nothing in front of my crossmember (other than my eDisco skid, ORFAB) before I put this skid plate on. Sure it might be a little over kill but I like it! Besides, I'm riding a bit lower than many of the trail rigs around so I find myself catching more rocks. This is pretty obvious when you look at my crossmember & down pipes. No idea how I caught my down pipes on rocks, but they are now well covered along with my oil pan and everything in front of the crossmember.

Hmmm I have an auto 2013 so probably just a oil pan and trans skid?
Kenny, the skid I just did wasn't crazy expensive considering everything it covers. It's along the same size/price point as the Protek system.

I've noticed that too the only problem I have with the stock skids is the crossmember under the trans isn't smooth at all.

But yeah KP is still at stock height and jku's seems to drag an awefull lot at Rausch

He installed the Rock Krawler BB since the last time he parked his Jeep there. So, tomorrow it will be sitting a little higher in the parking lot:cheesy:

Just Empty Every Pocket

Every couple of months, I decide that I have a master plan for a lift and I'm just gonna bite the bullet and do it this time. OMG OMG OMG OMG... I'm sooo excited as I start to research companies and making out parts lists from my existing parts lists (It's complicated, hush!). This is gonna be awesome I think to my self. Hell, I tell my self out loud how awesome it's gonna be! I'm finally gonna do it, I'm gonna pull the trigger on this project, I'm gonna make this happen. I've saved a bit, and that should be enough, right? Right?

Aaaaaaaand then I take my little wish list and start pricing things out. Ok, I'll deff need a Lift kit ka-ching. But it doesn't come with shocks ka-ching. It'll be tall so I'll need some new rocker guards w/ steps so I can get in without splitting my pants ka-ching. Exhaust spacers & drive shafts depending on lift height... ka-ching ka-ching ka-ching. Then I'll deff need to run some awesome beefy tires (ka-ching ka-ching ka-ching) b/c how weird would it look on stock rubber? But the tires need to be mounted and balanced when the Jeep gets aligned. ka-ching ka-ching ka-ching ka-ching. Damn... this is really starting to add up.

$5,000 - $10,000 later, I'm reminded what Jeep really stands for. JustEmptyEveryPocket!

You know, perhaps today isn't the day to order anything just yet. But that doesn't mean it's not the day to keep planning and saving! :yup:

I don't always wheel , but when I do I keep it tight......... Stay dirty my friends.

Want my TF 2.5" springs when i take them out next week? Id say I can pull the shocks as well but not yet. Both would be kinda cheap tho.

On the one hand, yeah that'd be great! On the other hand, I'm incredibly nervous about ride quality and don't want to put together a franken-lift. Panic! Let's discuss next weekend at RC.

Depending on what ur ultimate goal is u can go many diff ways to piece one together

Lol go figure, I was just snooping through your thread earlier looking at your sPOD install (cause I'm wanting one now) and here a few hours later theres life in your thread again! Lol I feel your pain. Theres so much I want to do but it's all costing so much. I'm saving for 33's right now and that alone is breaking my bank so I can only imagine how broke you'd feel

Evetytime I think "I'm gonna lift!!" I look at my bank account... weep.... and go back to window shopping lol
