Fire in California

Yeah but its highly doubtful the pumps on these engines are designed for salt water. I'm assuming most of these tanks are standard steel tanks as is the norm on most engines. The brush trucks probably have aluminum tanks but their pumps are a lot smaller and so are the tanks. The tanks on these and the pumps are a lot different than anything for commercial or residential use.
Cal Fire has a lot of water tanker trucks. They can drive to the ocean and fill up. Then drive to the fire. Same thing with the "super tanker" jets. After the fire, they all could pump some fresh water through the systems and be g2g.

From Trump on Truth social.
Governor Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way. He wanted to protect an essentially worthless fish called a smelt, by giving it less water (it didn’t work!), but didn’t care about the people of California. Now the ultimate price is being paid. I will demand that this incompetent governor allow beautiful, clean, fresh water to FLOW INTO CALIFORNIA! He is the blame for this. On top of it all, no water for fire hydrants, not firefighting planes. A true disaster!
Problem with that is we (northern California) don't have enough water for our own fires. I went through this during the Bear fire which got to within a couple hundred yards of my neighborhood this year. They had to shut off water to our homes so they could fill the tankers and trucks. Yet the Stampede Reservoir is only 11 miles away. But it was run down to mostly mud so our water could go to the south already.

They do controlled burns all the time.,
I don't know what California you live in but in all the years I lived there, I have NEVER seen a controlled burn or even risk management being done anywhere other than in National Forests and even at that, very limited. Never have I seen one being done in an area like the Palisades or other residential community like it for that matter.

Controlled burns don't further the climate change agenda. They intentionally leave these areas unmanaged for decades so shit like this has to happen. Now all of the owners of those burnt Teslas are going to go "See! Climate change is real! Ban gas cars...".
That seems more like the case to me than anything but a lot of it is also about the idea that cutting down and burning trees of any kind, even as a preventative measure and it being good for the forest, as being anti-environment.

California seems to be resistent to controlled burns, but it's neighbor Arizona has been welcoming them with open arms. And every accidental fire is an opportunity to be converted into a controlled burn.

You just don’t have all the Greenies and the Sierra Club types that we do.
Biden just declared two more monuments that only make these types of events more probable in the future.
And we’re in the middle of a huge fight right now trying to stop the damn Range of Light National Monument. Lost over 25% of all the Giant Redwoods and Sequoias in the last BIG fire here a couple years ago. Now their trying to make them even worse in a much larger area.😡

Controlled burns have their dangers as well. Back around 2002, they started a controlled burn just outside of the Grand Canyon and an hour later, it was a raging wildfire threatening the village of Tusayan.

Yeah it’s not that easy though. What about the crap that gets sucked into the pump even with a strainer? We pump out of the river with our engines and it’s a pain to clean the tanks. A neighboring department had to have their pump replaced because they sucked up something from the river. Also, fish don’t flow out the end of a nozzle very well.
