Fire in California

Holy hell - any updates? Did they make it?!

100% fuck that shit. I'd never live ANYWHERE this is even possibility.

Why don't they do controlled burns to get rid of the underbrush & easy fuel for these fires? Is that even a possibility?
This is morbid and sick but this will be a huge boost to California economy as the houses are rebuilt, creating lots of jobs. Insurance companies will pay billions to rebuild raising your and my rates but the boost in California will be huge.
This documentary goes into the thinking.

Yup.. Job Security.. We dont like going to Palisades.. but I wouldnt be surprised if we’re swingin hammers there sometime in the next couple years.

And as these poor people are walking away from their lives with whatever items they can carry… the fucking news reporters are in their face with a mic asking how they feel… Everything has to be the movie of the week around here… its f’n pathetic.
News reporters suck. They act all high and mighty but they’re just filthy vultures. I honestly believe the press of all types have hurt the US in many ways.

Anyway, you and your family are out of harms way?

100% on the press.

We are totally fine.. we are about 13 miles south of the Palisades. Just poor air quality right now.

This is from the 405 near LAX.

The Palisades smoke is mostly over the ocean… The Altadena fire is pushing smoke over us.

There are pumps that are rated for salt water service. Most water main supply piping is HDPE & tanks are poly/fiberglass
I would hope cities on the ocean have the correct equipment to be able to drawl water from.
Yeah but its highly doubtful the pumps on these engines are designed for salt water. I'm assuming most of these tanks are standard steel tanks as is the norm on most engines. The brush trucks probably have aluminum tanks but their pumps are a lot smaller and so are the tanks. The tanks on these and the pumps are a lot different than anything for commercial or residential use.

I'm thinking a different delivery system - I'm thinking why the heck not a complete ocean-water delivery system with pumping stations near the coast pushing it to hydrants inland. Why send reservoir or potable water thru a fire suppression system when you live next to an endless supply?
