Dash Electronics FLIPPING OUT on Our Jeep Gladiator

Man, that’s a total bummer it’s still going on. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can find something that will get you going in the right direction!

Actually have been wondering what the status of this trouble was, thanks for sharing. As mentioned by Mike an automotive electronics wiz would be an option to consider. If you were in the Northeast I would suggest a trip to Avoca NY. Eric O. at South Main Auto regularly posts some impressive diagnostic work on difficult problems. There must be an equally talented person in your region. Your process has been methodical, this one is a doozy.

is that a tpms inside the wheel sensor issue or the TPMS module sensor issue.
If I could guess, the TPMS sensor died but I don't know for sure.
Just proves that every generation of Wranglers (Gladiator for all intensive porpoises is a Wrangler) has it improvements and downgrades.

Fortunately, my Gladiator hasn't given me any problems. My JKU has the oil cooler leak even though I have been diligent every single time about proper torquing of the filter cap. It also has the god awful NSG370 transmission. Only 55K miles and putting it into reverse is a guessing game.
Honestly, most people should never have problems like this. My Gladiator is highly modified and only started seeing this problem after getting the whole rear end supped up. Essentially, very invasive work was done.
Dang Eddie, I don't even know where to start.. My memory is crap, but did you have the PCM, 0r ECM reflashed? Or even replaced? I am really hoping you just get lucky and happen by accident to stumble Apon the root of all of your problems.
I did not have anything re-flashed and I'm pretty sure I have things fixed after today. I just need to put on some miles and on rough terrain to see if it holds up.

At what point do you pull everything and run stand alone? Jeep ain’t gonna work on it anymore so no loss there? When you motorswap it?
LOL - If all else fails, that might be next.

I really do think I've got it. Just need to do some testing to make sure. Would love to take it out to Moab.

Did you look up a local auto-electrician like we talked about? They specialize in gremlins.

I have not but I have looked into it, just in case. I just wanted to give it one more go on my end being that I kind of had an idea of where I needed to focus my attention. And, I think I'm finally getting somewhere. Hope to post up good news soon.

if the tpms control module is in the same location as the JL/JK, it's on the rear cross bar.
Might be worth unplugging it, it should only affect the tire pressure readings, best case, it clears everything up and the voltage issue is in the module.

Good call. I’ll give that a try.

I personally think the dealers suck if they refuse to work a modified Jeep, WTF do they think people do to Jeeps?

Man this whole thing has given me the heeby jeebies everytime I start mine up........

Glad you got a run done that was ok.

Jim
To be fair, my dealership was willing to work on my Jeep, they were just warning me that I could be in it balls deep and they still may not find the problem. It was JEEP that said they would not work on it - as in, not provide any technical assistance that might actually help. But yes, total BS.

i ran into this with GM as well. if a vehicle was to modified i would tell the customer that i would do what i could but that gm would not be providing me with assistance so that repair time could be high

I have to say, I kind of get it but at the same time, it's really fuckin annoying. From what I was told, the conversation went something like this... JEEP - "disconnect the harness connected to the sway bar disconnect" DEALERSHIP - "there is no sway bar disconnect" JEEP - "ok, disconnect the harness from the FAD unit" DEALERSHIP - "there is no FAD" JEEP - "okay, disconnect the harness from the lockers" DEALERSHIP "ummm, there are no factory lockers" JEEP - "okay, this is no longer a Jeep product. Goodbye"

Thing is, I never wanted all this electronic bullshit in the first place. They forced it on me/all of us.
