Coming up to Speed With Grubbicon

I ended up changing out all the studs today on the front. I then started to put everything back together so I can put the front tires on.

I then went and sat it on the ground with everything bottomed out (front track bar sitting on top of the diff).

Just for shits and giggles I picked it up to where I am expecting ride height just for a peak and then decided to pick up the driver side to see if everything cleared and of course not that would be too simple. Looks like track bar is getting into the upper control arm mount and upper link getting into a cat (which I expected and not a huge deal). I need to try and get the axle for sure centered tomorrow and then actually go at it for real.

Id say there is only one way to find out.

You are gonna have fun. My buddies in a 1 ton tj on 42s and a 1 ton jk on 42s had to winch a lot. We made it up but took all day lol. If you make it up the lower part keep going, if you winch a lot turn back the upper is worse and no where to turn around. I wish we had done that :)

I ended up centering the axle and also started to get the driverside up to where I want it. The track bar just barely gets into that upper control arm mount so just a tiny bit of grinding will solve that.

After I did that I went welded the tabs in the towers. Once again welding those tabs in are so painful with how little room there is.

Now Im going to have to figure out where exactly Im going to want the towers at.

Looks like its almost time to measure for drive shafts so you can drive that mofo after you get the suspension all dialed in

This is a bad ass build. Anxious to see it driving. Too bad that Al Gore and his CatConverter crew had to mess with your build. I'm sure a BFH can bend some stuff around to keep the cat from hitting.

Holy shit your JK is looking good!

Thanks a lot man.

I have thought bout measuring now and doing that. But I feel like it would probably be better for it to be completely done to make sure I dont get them and they not be right.

I bet your right. Beat on enough parts of this thing a little dent in the cat wont hurt lol. I was thinking that the exhaust there is actually still unbolted so i can get that upper link bolt in and out. So it may not hit when its back in place. I believe it should move up and over a inch or so.

Today I had my yokes show up for my axles and yesterday I had to order more shock tabs because something happened to the ones I had for the front. They will probably show back up once the new ones shows up.

I finally moved my lower shock tabs out on the rear so everything clears. When articulating. They ended up around 1.75" out from the outside. When the driver side is picked up that passenger side gets so close to the tower still, but I dont really have much more room to move without the top of the tire getting into it. Ive learned if I did this again Id just bight the bullet and triangulate the rear. Tomorrow I hope to get everything pulled back out of the rear and fully weld everything up and get everything painted to go back in for the final time.

Yesterday I got the rear end out and the shock tabs on the towers and axle burned on. Also burned the towers in. There was too much of a gab to fill on the back side of the driver side so we cut out a little piece to weld in.

After both were welded in I started to paint the driver side tower and the inside of the other. I ended up deciding there was no way I could live with how the trackbar mount was and not to mention it probably wasnt going to be strong enough. So my brother stepped up and help out a lot building another mount. Its made out of a piece or 3/16 and I feel like it turned out pretty damn good. We cut out a piece to plate the backside, but we thought it was just going to make it look like shit so we skipped it. Hopefully I dont regret that.

Holy smokes that's awesome! Well done bro well done. Can't wait to see what it's gonna look like when it's finished. It's gonna be sick.

Looking good bro! I assume you got the clearance issues all figured out?

Yes I did. I ended up taking the axle side tabs out a bit further just enough to get them to clear which was like 1/2" past what it was. Its still very close, but it clears.
