Coming up to Speed With Grubbicon

Have you looked at car-part? Guessing yes, maybe it's regional. Both the front and rears out of 05+ SD here go for 400 or less for low mileage ones (<10k)

Same here, car-part.come has placed junk yards having sterling 10.5 and front Dana 60s at around 400-500 bucks each. That's near me though. Two private sales around me are selling a complete set off the same tuck for 500. Another is selling a 60 and 80 from same truck for 600. There are some deals out there. All in which are 05+

Since be working a lot on it the past few days didnt do a whole hell of a lot today. I tacked the track bar mount on the inside of the frame and moved the axle side out a bit. Not sure how I feel about that mount on the frame side like that. I may try and roll with it and just see what happens. I dont see it being permanent though. I also welded the top of the towers in the jeep shut as well as weld the track bar mount (axle side) up while it was off.

Once the track bar was it i got it half ass adjusted (still a tiny bit off the one way) and tried to cycle it both ways and see if stuff was hitting. It did great when I took the passenger side to full bump. However when I tried to go to the driverside the passenger side ORI barely got into the tower. Maybe it was just because of my ruff centering off the axle. Ill have to mess with it tomorrow if I get a chance and see.

damn dude - this things going to be a beast! I can wait to see it in person once it's done...

I hope its going to be a beast and not a fail lol. Hopefully you will see it before the end of the summer run.

Today my dual fill Kit, heims, and ball joints showed up today.

Before I started to make the arms I made sure the heims were the right side. I then started to figure out how long the arms were gonna be. I ended up actually going down to 26 5/8" because the 27 1/4" didnt leave me with much adjustment.

After I cut that extra little bit started to weld the bungs in.

I then moved to put them in the Jeep to see how they were gonna work.

After I ended up putting the lowers on the axle I went to put the johnny joint (that came with the kit) on the top of the truss and came to realize that its not even close to the size I need. So basically I have decided that im just going to build a upper the with the same heims on both ends. I believe a local shop has the parts I need so I hope to be able to get the stuff I need Monday when they open back up. Sucks that happened hoping to have the front hanging tonight but oh well.

Today I took the front axle back out since im gonna have to get the upper out to make the next one. In the process I realized the exhaust was in the perfect place to not get the bolt out. Thankfully only a few bolts to take that one section of the exhaust loose to get enough clearance. Im going to try and sell the front 3 arms if anyone is interested.

I also took the front sway bar out and wrapped the connection up and put it up out of the way. One day Ill probably take all the wiring out, but I dont want to do that just yet. Im gonna ask $300 (would like to keep it local) for the sway bar with the motor still working. I havent had any issues with it not working as it should.

Love you build man. I live not too far from you actually.
Would love to hit the trails sometime when I get mine back from SBC which I haven't even taken it in yet and we are a month behind almost. I'm getting pretty irritated.
When are you guessing your rig will be done? ... For now atleast lol

Ended up cutting the upper arm out and welded it together and started to put the arms back in the jeep to put the front axle back in. The upper heim is rubbing the top of the crossmember. I ground it down a bit, but it wasnt enough so next time it comes out Ill either take more off or cut the crossmember a bit.

I ended up going and renting a ball joint press so tomorrow Im gonna get the knuckles on and see if my drag link is gonna work. I got a feeling with the extra width im probably going to have to make one.

Ended up getting ball joints in today and got the knuckles on. That press I rented was complete junk!! Bent the hell out of it lol for some reason I have the feeling that is meant for a little honda civic lol.

Aren't you glad you didn't go through with selling it? That's awesome man.

I definitely am glad I didnt sell it. But seeing a stretched 1ton TJ on 43" stickies at windrock made the itch come back. Maybe that will be a trip many years down the road.

You don't need a 1 ton TJ on 43" stickies because you have a 1 ton JK on 40s that I'm going to help spot up Rattle Rock
