Coming up to Speed With Grubbicon

Well through the day I have been thinking and Ive decided between one of 2 things. Either change the frame side joint or Im even considering making some lower control arms out of 2" DOM and heims on both sides. Im going to talk to RK and see what they say before I make up my mind.

Went by Oreillys today and got calipers, pads, and inner and outer axle seals for the front. They had the pads but rest will be there tomorrow. After that I came home and took the front lower control arms out.

Basically I decided Im going to tackle my own. So I then called Artec to make sure what size heims I needed and I got their kit which are the heims and bungs to weld in. Ive decided im going to use 2" .250 wall DOM to make them. If I get a chance tomorrow Im gonna go by the local steel place and order it. Hopefully Ill be able to get my knuckles back sometime as well.

A little update going back to yesterday. I picked up the my knuckles from being sandblasted and also put some paint on them.

While I was doing that I started to mess with cycling the rear to figure out how far I wanted the rear to go up. I ending up getting close. I believe Im going to take a inch or so more out and it should be just about perfect.

Today I also took the knuckles to UPS to have them sent up to VA. I also went to the hardware store and got all the bolts that I need for the ORIs.

True. How are you handling the 1.6" mounting width versus everything else that is 1.5". My buddy used tmr customs towers because they have 1.6" width for the oris.

The tabs on the towers arent pre welded so I can put them where ever if thats what your referring to.

Earlier I believe I finally got the full bump and full extension where I wanted. I know I could make full bump a bit further up but I figured here it will allow me more room so I could possibly go to a 42 or even maybe another 40 with fresh lugs down the road. I then started to do some math what full extension was including my mounts so then I took a piece of pipe and made it to that length to see how it looked.

Once it was where I believe it was right it was time to start hacking at the body and frame. I used a cut off wheel for all of the body and some of the frame. Parts of the frame I used the plasma cutter.

Here is some pictures of where I ended today. I still got to make a bit more room to be able to bring the tower up another 1-1.5".

Looks great! Lots of work it looks like. I wouldn't have the balls to cut my frame like that for sure.

The work wasnt horrible just took me a 3-4 hrs going slow trying not to get too much. The next should be easier though since I did it once. The front should also be much easier considering I dont havent to go into the frame or body.

Haha I gotcha. Well hopefully I don't have to cut anything when I put my 1 tons in lol

You shouldnt have to. Long as you just do the bolt in kit and not change your mind last minute.

Hahaha I hope I don't change my mind. I'll eventually go to coilovers or ORIs, but not till after I've had my axles in for awhile

The nice thing is long as you use the kit the way it is designed everything is keyed together and is stupid simple.
