WAYALIFE Rockin Rubicon Run 2014 : June 15th - 17th

Hmmmm? I've lived a large part of my life in Oregon, have several logging friends and others that work in forestry and I've never heard that before. You must have picked that from all those hippie rafting chicks with the braided armpit hair that you used to hang out with. ;)

Lol. I shouldn't speak for all of Oregon. I've spent a fair amount of time around Bend and Sun River (kayaking, mountain biking and rock climbing). The mountains around Sun River had dead fall over four feet deep in some areas. Had a long conversation with some locals about the condition of the land. It wasn't in good shape. No economical way to remove the years of fallen trees and if a fire started it couldn't realistically be stopped.

X2- most of the land in my area is privately owned by large timber companies, and it is in their best interest to keep it cleaned up so it doesn't burn.

My ride- 2001 power wheel, 11" plastic tires, upgraded battery, boat sides, custom bumpers, tow hooks, new paint.

Yeah- sun river area is bad.. I've thought the same when camping over there. The forests out west are more working forests that are largely privately owned by timber companies. It is in their best interest to keep them cleaned up so they don't burn. Very strict rules on their property.

Guys (and Gals?) what about spare parts and tools?
Rough idea what kind of mechanical carnage is typical?
Maybe too general a question, not sure.

I saw on the video that axles break and they towed one fellow out - maybe that's rare?

Thanks

Bring what you have. I typically run with a full set of wrenches and sockets, specialty tools that my jeep needs, zip ties, misc pliers etc. For spare parts I carry a spare rear DS, rear axle shafts (x2), u-joints for the front, serpentine belt, a couple of clips for the transfer case wire thingy, fluids (oil, coolant, gear oil, brake, grease gun), relay, wire, misc connectors, fuel line...

I know I'm forgetting stuff but you get the idea. Try to think of what it is you'll need to get you (or others) home if something breaks. There is a thread on this already but I'd have to go find it.

Add to that a torque wrench. Never a bad idea to check the trackbar before the drive home.

Sounds like nobody else will need to bring anything, you've got it all! Haha.

If anyone else is looking for a place to store their doors etc, I have space in my room.
