The Slimer Build Thread

Did you check the springs as above?

I'd check your sway bar endlinks for creeking when you move them. Mine did it and it took forever to find. Also look for a bound bushing. Maybe loosen them all up and rock the jeep side to side?

Not really sure how to check the springs... I yanked on the springs, track bar, tie rod, and steering arm looking for movement. Nothing. It crunches in the rear too I found.

The front springs need to be rotated around until the end of the spring sits in the notch of the perch.

If it's bound it make still be tight, so you need to loosen everything, shake the shit out of it and then retighten.

Can you make it crunch while its parked and jumping on the bumper? Or only when driving?

I'll check out the spring locations. The mechanic seems pretty legit, a jeeper from way back, so I don't think he'd make such a simple mistake, but I'll check it out.

Got the "crunching" fixed today. The johnny joints weren't vertical enough and were grinding against the brackets when flexing. Also got the Reel 1350 front shaft installed.

As promised, a while back, here is the wiring guide for the rear tail lights supplied by EVO for their rockskins.

Trimmed my front fenders today during my sons nap time! Rear fenders tomorrow during nap time. I'll post some pictures later.

Does anyone know if I can flip my RK tie rod to sit on top of the mounts instead of hanging from the underside? This would help to keep it level and also provide more clearance. Does it change vehicle dynamics to flip it over?

Yeah, after I cleaned up the dremel disk cuts with a razor blade, they looked pretty good. Cut them on the vehicle. Much faster than following all the directions from Project JK, although I did use those directions quite a bit. Kept most of the structural plastic too, just trimmed it back at an angle with a sawzall. Tried to put the door trim along the edges to make it even cleaner, but the flexible plastic isn't so flexible at 40 degrees F. The packaging says it needs to be 65F or above. So it might be awhile...

Yeah, I thought about that... But there is a lot of other stuff that needs doing, so I may just wait. But thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks! Hoping to have it ready to apply for the JK Experience this year. My wife and I would LOVE to be invited...
