The Slimer Build Thread

Nice! I think you will like them. I installed mine but haven't cut the frame yet. The passenger side has so much extra frame tube that the shackle can't rotate up to horizontal. I also had to bend the opening in the driver rear cross member a little to insert the nut back there.

I was originally doing this temporarily until EVO makes their new rear bumper available, but I really like it; might just keep it this way. Hopefully I will get to cutting the frame flush this weekend.

Yeah, I spent a lot of time weighing my options between these, the EVO bumper, and the PSC BFH bumper. Decided I didn't want a lot of weight and I didn't want to hack up my frame rails and crossmember. I also wanted to keep my trailer hitch. These were the perfect solution! Until I get pulled over for no bumper... Hahaha

Btw, Dave, interested in doing a week trip in Colorado this summer?

Hey brotha when you do get your bumper what are you going to do with that Evo set up

Sell it to you?!? Haha. Might just keep it. Depends on the price of the EVO bumper. If the EVO bumper is $300 or less, like the PSC BFH bumper, then I'll pick it up. If its more, I'll keep the shackle tabs. I'll also have to see how much that new bumper weighs first...

Oh ok cool if you do decide to sell them ill be interested in buying them cause I'm doing the Evo tire carrier without the bumper

If I sell them you'll get first dibs. But really, not sure if I'm going to swap them and they are cheap enough you should just pick up a pair anyways, instead of waiting for me. Don't want to be caught Offroad without decent tow points!

Thanks! And I'll definitely keep you in mind. Sounds like your build will be quite impressive. I'll be subscribing to your build thread for sure!

Never got a hold of the guy to ask. If i have some free time this weekend I may pull the bumper and take some measurements and start to figure something out with my welding friend. I have angle iron where I work but dont think it will be tall enough for the right coverage. I would just do the 1/8 plate and have it bent but no idea where to even go locally for that.

Here is another guy who made his own. Its 3"x5" tube and 3/16" thickness. Its just notched out with mounting holes drilled. Seems pretty simple and looks clean.
