Scott's build of a 1981 CJ8 Scrambler

Looks like you have a Weber carb. The original would have been a Carter.Check for vacuum lines not hooked up correctly.

Yeah, need to find a diagram or talk to someone that knows it forward and backwards.
Nice deal
Any painting plans for the doors?
Probably just bed line them black for the time being. Long term, I really want to paint the whole thing a different color.

No picture with the festive doors installed? Kinda disappointing...

Looking forward to seeing where you take the Scrambler!

Ha. Working on getting them to fit. Need to adjust the latch. Don't worry, the pic is coming. It'll be even better than you know.

Took Atticus into a local shop that does more CJ stuff. The owner and other guy spent about 45 min drooling over him which was kind of fun. Had me pose him in front of their shop so they could take some pics. Said if I ever want to sell him, he knows some guys who'd take a second mortgage to get one so clean. Maybe he was just blowing smoke but didn't seem like that kind of guy. Either way, fun to have someone appreciate the old iron.

He was really helpful in walking me thru emissions stuff. According to him I need
Air pump
Diverter valve
EGR tube (maybe a temp sensor if they complain but try without first)
Catalytic converter probably (try first without as it's a Texas Jeep and there's a chance it didn't come with one)

Also mentioned it'd be good to upgrade to a non-vented oil cap on the front of the motor so the PCV isn't venting just that short distance and instead vents thru the engine to the oil cap on the rear, which is also vented.

Also mentioned I have a 3 pipe radiator which is the nice one and that adding the radiator shroud would help (just like Eddie did on Jane).

Anyone know how to remove striker off a CJ?

Here it is

That torx bolt in the middle doesn't really move

Hoping I don't have to remove these bolts on the back that have been bedlined over
