Rebuilt of a Billet Silver mall crawler

Got my PSC XDII steering box installed yesterday. Started with a flush of the factory system, to get a the ATF fluid out.

Locked the steering wheel in to prevent damage to the sensor.

I decided to completely remove my track bar, drag link and tie rod. Also disconnected abs sensor and locker wiring and got it out of the way. It made it really easy to get the old box out and to get the new monster of a box in.

I didn't not have to remove the spring to gain access to the steering box bolts. It's not fun to remove a spring with 3" bump stop anyway. I just disconnected sway bar links and shocks and dropped the axle enough to take tension out the spring and turn it enough to fit socket in.
I could not get the flare nuts on the lines to budge at all. I even took a trip to hardware store to get the only one in town 18mm flare nut wrench. That also didn't work, it just kept stripping the nuts. I considered heating it up with a torch bit settled on some vice grips lol, not ideal but it did work, just took for ever....

Here's a factory box next to PSC, big difference in sector shaft diameter.

New box went right in, pretty much straight up. Removing all my steering components and dropping the axle way down made it really easy.

Here are the mutilated flare nuts lol, I did manage to get them tight enough with vice grips, there are no leaks.

Here's a shot of my mess on my buddies driveway [emoji854]

Here's all back together right before purging the system.

Here's a link to PSC recommended process. It worked well but I think there is still air working itself out little by little.

Thanks, Mark

About the only time you can brag about a big box. Well done.
Thanks

Bad ass job man!!!!!!!!

feedback on how it performs so far?
Doesn't feel that much more different than stock. Definitely feels more solid and firm when turning the wheel though, like driving a truck and not a whimsy minivan on 37s lol. I need to test it out a little longer, going to the Mall this Saturday so we'll see how it performs.

Wow! That new box is BEEFY. Great job on the install! :thumb:

Some serious beef, it weights about 50lbs plus the pitman arm another 7lbs or so.
Thanks

Cleaned my shocks a little yesterday. Not perfect but I did manage to get a lot of oxidation of and bring the shine back some. Looks good at the mall [emoji41], not fun at all to do though.
