I used to drive by Coors and through Golden all the time! I lived and worked in Central City... There's some great scenic trails up the mountain.

Easy day today- stopped by red rocks :)

Then went to Idaho springs- oh my god road- shelf road all the way up- easy but 2 way and found ourselves on the outside a few times :( took the Russell gulch (narrower) and found ourselves on the outside of it also :(

Got to Central City with the intent of going to Pickle gulch and then Kingston peak, but quickly the temp dropped 10 degrees and rain stormed in, so we bailed and headed back towards 70, driving back towards north of denver with solid downpour for an hour.

Looks like fun, great pics. Don't you love the looks you get when your doorless and topless in the rain :yup:

I love driving doorless in the rain, but the wife and kids- not so much :)

Looks like somebody is having a pretty good time in spite of a little wet weather... Besides rain makes for good mud ;)

It's been interesting :) today was the first day we had someone else to wheel with- so we headed up to do t33a and middle st vrain. Every time we have gone anywhere it has been an hour drive away or more.
T33a was a blast! Awesome trail! 2 miles of shelf road up, then 2 miles of nothing but rock! shelf road is narrow, and had to back up a few times to let someone pass.

We started late and our yota buddy left after t33a, so we didn't get to MSV today.

Now that looks fun!

Is that a downed plane? lol

Excuse my sir, yes you with the jeep.. Could you perhaps give us lift into town? Our plane is giving us a hard time...
Might be because there's something wrong... or perhaps because I parked it in that tree over there and the engine fell out... lol

Shoot... Tie onto that thing and drag it out... Get some recycle money! If any one says anything, just tell them you like to leave the trails cleaner than when you got there.

I should point out- the T33a plane crash trail is a unique trail that allows you to hike to the site of a plane crash that happened on June 27, 1965. Jay Currie and Donald Darby died in the crash. They were scouting property that Currie had recently purchased when contact was lost. It is believed that thunderstorms in the area contributed to the crash.
