I'm still leaning towards Kaiwi...it is the name of the channel between the islands of Oahu and Molokai...I've crossed it many times to fish the north shore of Molokai...it can be one of the nastiest channels on earth, due to it's orientation with the prevailing winds and narrow stature. In Hawaiian, it means "Bones"...
