Critter Tread - Trapping

Funny thing is that video I posted last night was right where she got caught this morning. She's walked over that trap for almost a month. It's been in the ground before the hurricane came through.
Crazy she was able to avoid it all this time.

Thats typical in the paw traps. They don't hurt the paw of the animal either. Although the bullet to the head might have hurt this one.
that's pretty wild that it doesn't hurt the paw, looks like it would crush it.

bullet to the head.. hmmm, I noticed the shell didn't have ACME stamped on it, I'm thinking zombie coyote in the freezer

seemed like a small section of the paw in the trap, wondering how it didn't pull it out, strong trap!

It really is crazy how they hold but don't damage. Chain has swivels too so the trap stays with the paw. As the animal moves around, no broken bones, etc.

Lung shot on this one. Planning on selling the skull.

what do those go for? Any plans for the pelt?
20-60 bucks. Still something. If you bury it for 6 months or so, there's not much work after to clean it up.

I'm tanning the pelt for sure. I'm really considering doing a head mount rug. Had I caught this gal the first week (like I naively thought was how this would work) , I would have just sold it. But now, I've learned a lot, been humbled, and really appreciate the journey of it. For awhile it was frustrating but then i just got to a point where i knew i wasnt going to give up and just be patient. I've literally been dealing with this gal morning after morning for 7 months, buying more traps, more baits/lures, redesigning sets, catching non target animals including skunks, etc. There's a part of me that doesn't want to get rid of it, lol.

Sorry for the life story, lol.

I figured it would be a nice trophy since it took so long. Definitely a good set of skills that you have learned over the time 👍 I’m happy to see that you finally got your target. How many more do you have in the area?

Thanks. I don't know that I was as skilled as much as the coyote being in the right place at the right time. However I placed the trap that caught her because I saw her on camera using that area often and scouted the area finding that trail. Either way, I sure learned a lot about trapping. That's for sure.

3-4 times, there were 2 coyotes together. Last time I saw that was about 5 weeks ago. Most times it's a single yote.

I am leaving traps out for another 5 weeks. I'm curious to see if the other one comes back. I did remove the two traps where she was caught because it's not even a trail anymore. This morning's gal tore the whole area up. A bear could walk through there now.
