Build of my JKU

Great! I remember they had a good warranty too, although I can’t remember the details.

15 Year Warranty! No Tire Size Limits! Yes, We Cover Bent Flanges.... per their website.

Also found my answer on the question about the adjustable bungs are made in house by Evo.

I think I found what I need. I am going to cut off the mounting side bungs of the Evo tire carrier and weld these in giving me easier adjustability up and down. I'm pretty sure they will fit in the current carrier and fit the johnny joint ends.Screenshot_20201201-213840_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20201201-214331_Chrome.jpg

The Johnny joints are not tight enough then. It shouldn’t move at all. I cannot loosen mine they are so tight. About the only way I would get them off is if I absolutely needed one I would find a way.

In Moab I took a close look at Jerry's rig and saw what I did wrong. It has more to do with installation error more than anything. When I was installing the skins I focused on lining up on the tailgate and not the rear doors which caused the mounting points of the carrier to be too close to each other. Whoops.

I cannot fit the original locking nuts on the cage with the Johnny joints so I had to remove them and run the Johnny joints all the way into the cage bungs on passenger side. On the driver side I had to cut the locking nut in half and still grind some so I could fit on the jeep so my adjustability is about 1 turn. Because of that I'm not able to adjust the passenger side hinge to counter the weight of the tire. I have to do that by cranking up on the cage and tightening the bolts but eventually it works itself loose and the cage gets really out of alignment.

The only way I see that I can fix it to give myself the proper adjustability and get the original locking nuts back on there is by cutting back the carrier ends and re welding new bungs in. I figured if I was going to put new bungs in I might as well throw adjustable ones in there.

Can't you just cut the ends of the carrier a bit so you get the adjustment back that you need?

Seems to be a lot easier and less risky than welding new ends on. You probably only need to trim the top one, so you can shorten it to raise the other side.

Yeah thats what I plan to do but instead of a flat bung Im thinking of adding the easy adjustable ones on the passenger mount only.

But I do see your point.

So I was down at Currie Enterprises today picking up some parts and that's great cuz they're only 10 minutes down the street. They had a couple of really nice rigs there and the Synergy rig was down there as well.

I've never really given them them a look but today saw some stuff that I really like. I don't seem to across the rock jocks too much on here so is there something about their products I'm not aware of?

I’m happy with anything I have made by Currie. It all seems really well made

So, I have been spending a lot of time reading on rear axles from old post to see what the general though was and of course it was Dynatrac. I will admit I looked at the sale mention above of the two Dana UD60's and free wheels for 15K, but the only reason I am attracted to the sale is because of the wheels.

I want to make sure I understand this right to pitch it to the wife. I'm not judging the axles by price point but it is a small factor.

XD60 package is probably over kill or am I missing something? I plan to stay on 37's for a little while longer but will jump to 40's eventually.

I just stumbled across the ProRock Hardcore package 62/60 set for 13K? I feel the Hardcore 62/60 package is plenty strong and want to know if it is weaker, the same, or a better set up then the Dana UD60's?

My choice came down to Dynatrac/Fusion/UD60's. Having already had a set of Dynatracs and seeing the quality upfront is ultimately what nudged them over the others. I came close to getting the Fusion 60/14 bolt set but the price point was pretty much the same so I deferred to the previous point. If I ever thought I'd go the V8 conversion route the Fusion set is probably the way I would have gone to get the added pinion strength of the 14 bolt rear. The UD60's can't
be knocked either - a lot of guys are running these now with zero issues and love them. If you can get a deal on any of the 3 you'll be really happy with them regardless. The peace of mind you'll have is a really great feeling. Changing axles in parking lots sucks balls.

As far as the XD60 I wasn't really in the market for those. Maybe someone that's running them can answer why they feel it's best.

I completely agree with Ddays above. I went with Fusion because of previous experience with two other sets of their axles and was extremely impressed. I went with the 14 bolt with dreams of a 6.4 in there some day.

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of those setups. The UDs, Dynatracs, and Fusions are all outstanding and will handle what ever you throw at it. The best advise I can give is to do it as best as you can afford. Otherwise, somewhere down the line you’ll end up upgrading again and guys like West coast Jerry get to Benefit!! But the piece of mind of pushing these Jeeps and not worrying about the axles is worth ever penny you put into them.
