Caught the Bug
Benito, I am going to take into account that you owned up to not knowing the people who run the JK Experience, but you are just making a grand assumption.
You are right, that was an assumption.
Even though you may have read through this thread from the start, and all the way to this point, you may be missing the moral of the story: If you take advantage of people who do more for the offroading industry daily (that would be the owners of the JKX) than almost anyone, well do not expect to just get away with it like nothing ever happened. However, If walking away with almost $3000 worth of tires and disappearing with zero explanation of why, and never even attempt to return the tires is cool in your book.....maybe you are on the wrong site :idontknow:
I understood what the "moral of the story" is and I think that whoever has been through the thread understands that as well, and like my first post on this thread today said i believe what this guy did was wrong, there is no question about it. The only way a person can expect to get away with anything is if nothing is ever done about it, all the bashing that goes on here in no way is changing situation or doing something about it. If its about the tires, they are gone, they are never coming back unless some legal action is taken or something.
Now for the most important part: More than just a few people on this site know the owners of the event. Some of those people are even extremely close friends with the owner and his family. I happen to personally know what 13JKUR (original poster and tire thief) did, absolutely did affect the JK Experience owner...... and no, he and his family are not over it. In fact, less than two weeks ago in Moab, it was one of the topics we covered late one night while drinking beers after a great day of wheeling.
Again, I understand you may be new to thread and/or forum, but there is more to this than just a thread that gets a bump occassionally.
So it did affect the people that truly deserve answers for this guys actions, but what can you expect from a stranger? "Not much" should be the answer; "hope for the best, expect the worst".
As for anybody who ever said or thought "I didn't get selected to go the JK Experience, this guy did and he didn't show up,[insert one of the following comments here]":
A) "i wouldn't of had done that if i was selected"
B) "this guy is a [insert adjective/s here], it should have been me"
C) Or any other statement following "I didn't get selected to go the JK Experience"
should have just stopped at "I didn't get selected to go the JK Experience"
Fuck this guy. I have no intention to let this thread die. You know how many people apply that want to go? A lot! This fucker got accepted and ditched with a bunch of free shit that could have went to someone else.
And for everyone else, he stole more then tires. He had other things sent to him as well that he also never sent back. He post on JKF "haha no I didn't go things came up." Yeah he sounds really sorry for what he did.
as for you, you fuck, yeah i understand a lot of people applied to go to this, and yes what he did was wrong in every sense of the word, but the only other person that this affected besides the people that organize this event and the sponsors is that one other person that didn't get selected, if you can identify the individual that didn't get selected because of this guy then he should be the one that have this personal vendetta against this person, not you because the odds are that you weren't going to be selected, unless the selection process is somehow influenced.
Unlike my pal GCM2, I think those that choose to whine about posting on thread can choose to leave.
hey im stating my opinion if you dont like it you can chose to leave, it's the internet and your comment is a two way street bud.
