12' Gecko Build

Just noticed I mangled the heck out of my passenger side rear hard brake line.
Should I be mounting the sway bar links inside instead of outside?
Maybe I'll have to re route the hard line, luckily it doesn't look like it's leaking hopefully I can bend it back without too much trouble.

I did the exact same thing and move the hard lines inside the frame

I honestly set up the rear with the same angle in mind as the front like 10 degrees above level so they may very well be too long
Also never added bump stops to the rear haha, needless to say I have a few things to clean up.

Ok so looking over my rear suspension again to clean some stuff up. When I bought my rear shocks and Rockstars I had no lift in the rear so I bought rancho 9328s which are essentially stock length.

The attached photos are me sitting at full droop right now. The sway bar links IMO are long for my set up and I do have some range to shorten them up a bit. But I really don't have much down travel at this point.

Couple things I'm looking into is to pull the shocks and measure out how much down travel I can get out of these rear springs and looking into longer rear shocks. Also while I'm at it I want to pull the rear springs and check my up travel and bump stop. This will give me an idea on why I'm hitting my brake line and see if 1 shortening my sway bar links with my current shocks will keep them from hitting by brake line. 2 measure up travel and bump stop for clearing my current tire size and longer shock collapsed length.

I hate to keep dumping money into this thing with the potential for us to purchase a 4 Dr in the future but I also want to get this rear set up right to enjoy what I have for the time being.

Checking the both full down right now at the limit of my brake lines and the coils are looser than I'd be comfortable with. So I can say without lifting 1 side 25.75" is my absolute max with coil begining to unseat and brake lines tight.

I plan to pull the coils and check my up limits. Both full up then 1 at a time up. 20190618_155310.jpg

So with both at full droop my coils can not be pulled out by hand but they can be wobbled around a bit, I'm pretty much at the limit of my brake lines and I'm at 25.75" extended shock length. Unfortunately the rancho 9330 is a 26" extended shock length which has me puzzled about what to do here. If I cycle 1 side up I'm only gonna be pulling more on my brake line and un seat my coil so I don't think the 330 is gonna work :/ not without a limit strap and that sounds more annoying than just running the shocks I have a deal with 2" less down travel

Can you do anything with the brake line bracket to give it some slack?

So the shocks I have are 23" extended and work fine with no retainers but I can afford to get longer ones up to about 25.5" extended. Ranchos next longest shock goes out to 26" which is a little too long for my springs so retainers might be an option if I were to buy longer shocks to take advantage of and extra 2.5" of down travel.
Why do you need spring retainers? If your shocks are the right length that will limit your droop appropriately and keep your coils in.

Isn’t it funny, can’t anything ever be easy? Have you thought about getting the shock extension that you put above the shock? That may get you more down travel without needing longer shocks. But that may limit your up travel.

Haha also an option I have a set of spacers I could throw in the front and back. I was just hoping I'd get lucky and buy 1 size shock up and be done. Either way what I have now works just fine and all I really need to do is shorten my links and maybe add 1" bump stop and call it a day
If the concern is the extra half inch of shock travel causing your springs to fall out, put in 1/2” in spacers above the springs.

Didn't get the chance to measure compressed length before going in to work tonight. I'm still gonna pull the coils and measure my uptravel and toss a tire on there and see where I clear and where I don't to measure for bump stops. I'm most likely going to have to add bump anyway so if where I bottom out at at full bump and see if the compressed lenght of the 330s is feasible which they might not work anyway.
Because I am not running any bump stop in the rear right now I think my tires just rub the shit out of my wheel well. I will check that next and update when I do

Last time I checked all this stuff I was on 33s I never went through this process when I slapped the 37s on so I should have done this a while ago
It's been a long day, so maybe I'm missing something, but wouldn't longer shocks bottom out with the Rockstars unless you add bump stops anyway?
