There is hotels around but it's a half hour drive to the lake bed. And your drive from LAX is probably 2.5 hours.

Thank you for the information Adam.......weather calls for high of 58* and low of 40* +/- all next week.....not sure if that relates to the lake bed though......and I'm guessing it gets pretty windy down there......I'm down for camping there if conditions permit.....

Really windy and cold yes.
It kind of sucks for the spectators because it is usually pretty windy. However for the racers, the wind is a great and wonderful aspect of mother nature! :thumb:
Is this because of the dust kicked up from other rigs? And it blows the dust one way?

As of right now I am planning on Thursday and Friday and tent camping. What is the rules for camp fires?
Currently there are no campfire restrictions in place for the Johnson Valley area except maintaining minimum 5' clearance from any vegetation. Also any wood containing nails or other metal (ie...pallets) is prohibited and subject to a $100.00 citation. Additionally glass beverage containers are also prohibited and subject to $100.00 citation. Plus these violations will also give the Rangers a reason to give you a rash and a shit for other things in your camp. Ask me how I know...

You'd be surprised, a lot of 'good' beer is canned these days. Heck there are brewfests dedicated to only canned brew. I've been going to one here locally in Reno since it's inception.
