VIDEO : HOW TO Replace the Main & Auxiliary Battery on a JL Wrangler / JT Gladiator

Finally had to change the batteries, 4 years 5 months.
Had to watch the video a couple of times and Eddie didn't run into my problem (Lucky Eddie).

The connection blocks on the bottom of the fuse panel were rightly stuck to their connectors.
They evidently were not seated into the cradle below them.
Had to figure out a way to walk them off without breaking anything and still I was sweating it.

The first time I did this was for the video and everything just came right off. I've done it again since and the plugs were on there good. I was able to get them off by gripping the plug and rocking them back and forth. Took some effort for sure but nothing too bad.

Had to pry the first one off just so I could get my hand under to try and walk them off.

I was saying bad words for sure. Kept coming in and watching the video and *POOF* they just fall off in the video EVERY DAMNED TIME

Apply a very light coat of dielectric grease before reconnecting the plugs. It helps when you have to disconnect them again

My battery finally gave out at 76k miles.

Now do I just replace both ?

That's pretty amazing. Mine never gave out but all the signs were there and so I literally just replaced both of mine.

Been getting a message on our 2021 JLUR when starting "auxiliary switches disabled to charge battery" also now have a "service axle locker system" message and they don't work. Do you think this is most likely a battery issue? Don't really have time nor want to take it to the dealer.

Yes. Just replaced my battery for this issue. I let it go for over a year lol

also have that message but I like stop/start factory disabled because of it.
keeping it until it doesn't start lol
but I've recently noticed it also disables the factory auxiliary switch panel

If you're on factory, replace both. Whichever one took a dump is putting a constant drain on the other. Don't buy OEM batteries. THere are better batteries for less money than OEM.

That was my thought exactly. We have a local battery shop that usually has some good deals on batteries.

Only replaced the main battery. Wanted to do both but really didn’t wanna spend another $150-200 on a aux battery at the moment

At one time people were willing to insert a key, and then turn it. Now pushing two buttons is just too much!
