SLICKROCK Saturday Trail Run

That looked like a fun trip! It's a shame people feel the need to chew things up just for the hell of it. We get a lot of guys over here trying to do things in 2WD with lots of throttle to be a hero instead of crawling the obstacle and it s made some fun trails almost impassable. So i know exactly how you feel Eddie

Wow!! That looked like a ton of fun. You'll have to take us out there someday!!! :)

Have you really not run this trail with us before? Had I known that, I would have taken you guys out there when you were here last. Sorry about that

Sucks to hear you have the same problem down in your neck of the woods.

looks like a great time. to bad what is happening to the trail out there, there are plenty of extreme difficulty trails out there for people to test their limits

more fun! nice way to relax even if only online...makes me want to move sooner than later lol

I've run into the same type mentality over-powered guys in Utah, Colorado and around here, personally I think the over-powerd guys tear up the areas that should be a challenge to nothing that they decide to go tear up new area just because they can. it sucks but what to do other than what you did..say thanks for the help but in my head I'm saying a whole lot of other things

It was a great time and I would have invited you along but I knew you were already going on the Bronco Canyon run. As far as difficult trails go, that's my point - there are so many other trails that are tough. It's almost as if these guys just go out there to hang out at the one obstacle, drink beer and spend the day showing off and telling people how to wheel. :naw:

I hear ya! yea next time hopefully I can make it!

We ran Deer Valley on Saturday and never saw another person. Wish you guys would have come with us. 😀

I was in the group of jeeps behind you guys and after you made it through the buggy guy was taking his little kid up the hill and from what I could see without a seat belt he even had him in his lap letting him steer  overall a great day glad to see you guys out there

Curious, I wasn't there, so it's obviously armchair quarterbacking, but is it not possible to drag that rock out of the way with a bunch of winches? Figure at 10K per winch, seems like 3-5 winches should be able to move that thing over or something no? Just curious.

I second this. Looks like a blast. [emoji106]

Sucks about the bad experience, but looks like you found a way to make the best of it and it certainly didn't keep you from enjoying the day.

Thanks for sharing the pics!

Hey. Did you guys turn around? We never saw you guys come through on the other side?

Deer Valley had been open. I confirmed with Forrest Service . We were parked at the trailhead airing down tires when the ranger pulled up. He let us thru and closed it behind us. He said it will be closed temporarily for assessment of damage done to the meadows. We definitely would not have run a closed trail.

Hey, it was good to see you out on the trail. When the Bruiser passed us up earlier in the day, his kid wasn't strapped in then either and they were moving through the trail with a purpose. :naw: Did you guys go up The Ladder or did you turn around?

The thought crossed our minds but there was no good place for us to pull from the bottom without the rock landing in our lap. None of the Toyota guys had a winch. We were able to get around just fine taking the old hard line up and so we just left well enough alone.

eh, it wasn't really a "bad experience" per se, just vented a bit because we had newbies in our group and this was supposed to be a moderate trail. Trail Bud's friend Alex couldn't even get herself to try the obstacle so Cindy had to drive for her.

Looked like fun.

Bad attitudes only ruin a day if you let them, cool you didn't.

Oh no, we weren't gonna let something as dumb as that ruin our day

That's news to me. I've been checking with the Forest Service ever since they closed the trail back in 2012 to do that environmental impact study on vehicles crossing the meadow. It's been closed ever since and supposedly scheduled to be open soon but I've been checking all summer and as you can see in the link I posted up, the trail is STILL CLOSED. Likewise, I've never seen a closed gate, only a red popsicle stick stating the trail was closed. If the trail really is open now, that's great news but it's kinda strange how you "never saw another person" on the trail on a Saturday where the whole area was packed full of people.

I'm surprised they would close a gate on an open trail just for the fact that if god forbid there was an accident or trail break how could anyone other than a Ranger get to you? Sounds like maybe he just gave a pass since you were there but the trail is still closed.
