Should I Get a Supercharger For My Jeep JK ?

How much of a difference did the SC make over stock? Also is there much difference between ripp, edelbrock, and the other brands?

I haven't driven the others, so I can't give a comparison. I will say the SC woke it up quite a bit. I can very easily merge now on the highway and no longer struggle to pass semis.

I went Ripp because the install seemed to be the cleanest and was easily reversible. I also got a really good deal on it at PA Jeeps last year.

EDIT: If nobody here on the forum has any other suggestions, see if Trail Jeeps has any experience with it, they are in Golden.

I was talking with Wes from Trail Jeeps at a Mile High Meet-up recently and we got to talking about the LS in his JK. It ain't cheap. He invited me down to the shop to drive a demo equipped with a 3.6 and turbo. His claim is it's as fast as a 5.7 Hemi for way less $$'s. For me a properly geared 3.6 has plenty off road, but you can never have enough driving on pavement at 10,000ft. Disclaimer: I haven't been to the shop to drive the machine 'cause I'm afraid it might be as good as he says it is. For what it's worth the LS JK is a monster and seems to be bug free. Good luck!

Yeah man that LS was pretty badass. Unfortunately i cant blow $30k on a motor swap.

Best supercharger system out there?

Hey guys so recently moving to 40s I've noticed I needed more power, and I've always wanted a supercharger so that's what I'm looking at atm so... What is the best supercharger system out there and any personal experience and insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks

If you like unpredictable power surges on the trail then a supercharger is perfect. If you don’t, then don’t waste your money on one.

V8 Swap it instead. Motech makes quite a good kit

In my HONEST opinion, the best super charger kit out there is the one on someone else jeep, Far FAR away from my jeep :yup:

Merged your thread here. Happy reading. Also, search for Supercharger vs LS Swap, you'll find there are some other threads about that.

What's the main difference between these 2 for a 4-door JK, and which would you recommend?

6.0 L96 Engine
6.2 L9H Engine +$2000

I’ve had both now. The L96 was tuned pretty hot and was a dramatic increase over the V6. I’ve had the 6.2 in for about a week but unfortunately we haven’t had a chance to get on the dyno, so it’s running the same tune as the 6.0, which isn’t bad but I can tell it can be better.

Which would I recommend? The L96. Tough engines if you can find one with low enough miles.

i was talking with a local shop who did a ls3 swap. asked them how much and they told me but also said its not CA smog legal... said he knows 3 others having issues getting their LS swaps passed thru CA.

has anyone else heard this being an issue for CA residents?
