Rebuilt of a Billet Silver mall crawler

Installed some goodies over the weekend.

Started with the rear, everything went pretty smooth. I am glad I picked up a set the pointy pry bars. It helped me pop the spidertrax right off. Thanks to WJCO for posting about these bars few weeks back, they are pretty handy.

Checked the flanges with dial indicator, still good. Only out about 5-7 one thousands of an inch , I have blame most of that on the rusty surface. If I even did this right....

Out with the old and in with the new

On of the sliding bolts was dry and slightly seized up but came out without damaging it.

Here’s the rears all installed

I took a minute to poke around the rear suspension..... [emoji15]
I found out that my rear sway bar links are barely long enough at full droop. New links on order.

Also found that my hitch/trailer wiring is getting burned off by the exhaust at full stuff on passenger side. Luckily it only burned the wire loom and the wires were ok. Got that tucked out of the way.

Sunday morning I had some time to install the front brakes and new hubs.
I had to thin out the 15mm wrench to fit on the caliber bolts.

Here’s a difference in the rotors

Popped the axle nuts right off with the Milwaukee impact wrench, man I love that thing .

Also love the new shiny parts [emoji41]

Here’s evidence of me forgetting to torque my front passenger wheel couple months back. You can see how the rim wobbled on the spacer scratching the surface around the outside of it. I am glad I caught it in time before sending my 37” tire flying through traffic. It was loose for only few days before I caught it.

All in all It took me way too long lol.... but, I always take time to clean everything I can with a wire brush, getting all the old loctite off and, checking everything I can overall, while I have stuff apart.

Good work. Jeep will be happy.
Jeep is happy by my wallet is not lol.

Very nice!! How was the maiden voyage with the new bakes?
Noticeable improvement right away but I didn’t really drive it around too much yet. I think those components need to break in a little bit for its full potential.

That’s a lot of goodness going on there Matt, that’s a great way to do routine maintainence like you did there.

Thanks Mark, I sure love to spend time in the garage with the Jeep, not so much my wife though lol.

Those are just pry bars, they come in handy for some things, l also use them for aligning my control arm or shocks into a mounting brackets. I used to use a punch.... these work much better.

You're gonna love those brakes. These are almost required for 37's & over
I’ve been putting this upgrade off for way too long, glad I finally did it. Now just have to break them in. That’s my wife’s job [emoji41]

Great job on the new goodies. Everything looks great, can't wait to get those rotors one day.
Thanks, it sure was fun install. Those rotors and all Dynatrac stuff looks really high quality. Everything fits perfect.

Since I haven’t had anything cool to post in this thread in a while, I figured I can post some of my stupidity from last weekend.

And here’s probably the scariest one, also the least visible one, when I slipped of a rock, got hung up on both my diffs at the same time, all 4 wheels of the ground and my rear yoke/shaft with about 1/2” away form getting ripped of on a rock. Glad I decided to winch forward, few scratches on the pumpkin won’t hurt the Jeep too much.

Good to see some updates. Glad the damage done was only cosmetic.
Thanks, I am very happy I didn’t break anything and was able to drive it back home.

Glad to hear you came out in one piece [emoji106]

Thanks [emoji2]

And you got to try out your winch too, it was not stupidity at all, it’s fun to watch you try all the obstacles

Yea, on side I am happy I got to use my winch and unwrap some of my recovery gear, on the other hand I wish that didn’t happen. I had a good line going, I knew in the back of my head that this could happen. Now I am tempted to try this same line again and make it up there the way I wanted [emoji854]
