Rebuilt of a Billet Silver mall crawler

Glad you didn't have anything seriously damaged. I had quite a few scars and I hit my rear differential also on my last trip, made me nervous the whole way home haha.

Thanks, I am very happy I didn’t break anything and was able to drive it back home.

Thanks [emoji2]

Yea, on side I am happy I got to use my winch and unwrap some of my recovery gear, on the other hand I wish that didn’t happen. I had a good line going, I knew in the back of my head that this could happen. Now I am tempted to try this same line again and make it up there the way I wanted [emoji854]

For sure, we’ll definitely need to get back there to tackle that one again.

Yea, I am still getting used to the sound of using my skid plates, also used my rocker guards few times already. Protection is the key when going to play on rocks.

Definitely trying that one again [emoji41]

Looks like a cool spot to drive.. And I think some scratches doesnt hurt your JK at all. The JK have so thick materials - the trackbar is as strong as one of a traktor so its all good ;)

I know it doesn’t hurt the Jeep much, it still makes me cringe every time I hit something pretty hard.

Tell me about it and I only just had the factory skids. I have to invest in rockers and an oil pan/engine skid before I go again. I also got hung up and hit my rear shocks so I was looking at the syngery lca/shock skid. Apparently moves the shock about 1-2 inches upwards for better clearance.

Do the evo Rockstars skids for the rear, they are awesome and the install is fun but a little time consuming. If you scroll back a little I have them documented in this thread. I also added front lca skids, oil pan and trans skids, some diff covers. Still have evo crossmember skid awaiting install. Factory gas tank skid does a great job with protecting the belly, I don’t see a reason to replace that.

Thanks for the recommendations. I do like that rockstar skid, seems to do the same and a bit cheaper thanks. Think the diffs need a skid under them or a heavy duty cover is okay? After hitting mine, I feel nervous. I saw one that goes back to protect the pinion also.

AEV makes a skid for the rear 44 that works great. It does protect the pinion as well. A heavy duty front is fine for the front.

As Bill mentioned, AEV makes a pumpkin skid for the rear. Although I am not planning to add one at this time, I think heavy duty diff covers are enough. I use my tie rod as front skid plate [emoji23]. I’ll just try to pick better lines and not slide of the rocks, try.....
Eddie has a good write up on the Rockstars install floating around here.

I wouldn't care about the diff cover. I think the are strong enough. I also think that track bars from currie or JKS dont need some protection of you aren't try to hit the rocks with high speed.

A few days ago I compared my JKS Trackbar from my XJ to the one from the IHC 844. There are no big different and my JKS is not the heavy duty one. The IHC trackbar jacked up the tractor on a tree stump due a driving fault - and there was any issue.

Tractor-Front Axle Picture deleted :D
