RAUSCH CREEK TRIP 10/26-10/27 (GREENS/BLUES with a touch of BLACKS)

So sliders aren't first priority for armor? Or is that just with a JKU?

I'm pretty sure everyone you ask will have an opinion on this. Stock, you should have an OEM t-case skid and an OEM fuel tank skid, but other than that you are a little exposed underneath and you'll smack those things on a rock before you get to your pinch seams imho. If possible, I'd do both. But given the choice, I'd get the armor underneath first.

Under armor keeps your jeep able to drive home IMO, sliders keep it pretty.

My opinion is pretty transparent. That being said, Sliders are also very important.

My first mods were sliders and skids.

My two cents on sliders vs cb:
I'd say sliders are more important. As for which one to get: I like the LoD and Poison Spyder ones. Like everyone says, drilling and welding means they can handle just about anything. However, I am in a situation where I can't do any of that yet - I have a lease - so I have been searching for sliders I can just bolt on and may I suggest Ace Engineering. These are the ones H8TMUD has - there is a thread I believe in the show off pics section for them. They use the body mounts and you can actually use them with the stock rubi ones. I have been told they are a reliable, strong slider. Only down side is for heavy wheeling you can still dent the body due to the mounting. But for Rausch and what we are doing atm they are more than sufficient and they are only like in the $400 range.
Which brings me to my next point - I think sliders are more important but, also like has been mentioned, we aren't wheeling too heavy and last trip was first time I had a cb and may I say it completely changed my wheeling experience for the better. Can't explain how glad I was i had it when I was the only one up on the rock at the comp course when big bear went over. Just my two cents :)

I am a little nervous of the ace sliders or any body mount sliders. A 4 door weights about 5000 pounds. If you slip off a rock the weight of that vehicle could get the better of body mount sliders.

Who do you recommend for armor underneath a TJ?

Didn't mean to direct quote that question. Input from everyone would be appreciated as I'm going to pull the trigger on some armor this week.

I want the LoD ones eventually... do you need to weld? I thought those were just bolted to the body and the frame rails...?

Sent from my phone while I should probably be getting work done

You don't need to weld, but obviously welding will only increase what the sliders can take.
