PRESS RELEASE : Meet The New Jeep JK BIG BORE XDII-R

Journeyman....please don't post about my box here. If I wanted info to be spread on the web I would post it myself.

Don't be that guy.

Well truly that's great to hear!

And maybe there was some misunderstandings, but I felt like I was very politically correct and very respectful in my response with everything knowing that this was something that I just heard through the grape vine and didn't want to start any huge rumors that cost people and businesses cash and ultimately could affect their reputation based on a possibly a rumor.
But...this is an open forum where we share our information and I thought it was pertinent info to share [emoji848] isn't that kind of the point...
I am glad that your box is good and you have no issues with it. Hope your having a blast running jkx!

Maybe now we know what kind of guy you are [emoji6]

Um, what kind of "box" are we talking about here fellas? [emoji23]

As someone on the fence whether to go with this plus assist or just go with the usual assist kit, have there been any problems reported yet? Was the issue that supposedly happened during JKX actually happen?

I only have my box in for few days, so far so good. I am going to test it out on the trail this Saturday, so we'll see. I did get a ported box in case I ever want to add hydro later.

Interested to hear some feedback. I'm running wheel spacers and high-steer and turning blows now, need some extra beef.

I've had the big bore XD with lockers on in rocks and sand and it turned 37s just fine. I have not had the new big bore XDll-r off-road yet, but I am sure it is even better. I do not see a need to go to a ram unless I step up to 40s which I have no intention to do. The upgraded box is more than enough for 37s.

Not planning on 40s really. But I feel if I get the XD I'll regret not having the XDII and the option to add hydro on 37s if I wanted to. Will probably just go with the XDII for more beef and option later.

I have my box in for a little bit now, my wife was breaking it in for me during the week driving around town [emoji41]. Today 200 mile drive and about 6 hrs on the trail.
When I first installed it I felt tight, I want to say it actually took slightly more effort to turn the wheel than stock, in a good way though. Feels good now, maybe it had to break in a little?
It feels a lot better than stock at highway speeds (70-75mph). I don't have to make a lot of correction due to winds like I had to do with stock box, sometimes I had to hold my steering wheel a good 1/8 + of a turn out to drive straight. No more of that, maybe very minimal. Big improvement when passing a semi truck, I don't know if it's only me but I usually get either pushed out to the shoulder or sucked towards the truck. That sensation is almost completely gone. No more clinching my butt chicks when passing a semi. Overall highway driving now feels way more comfortable then it did. Big improvement in overall response.
On the trail it really feels the same way it does when just driving on a pavement. Turns with minimal effort, doesn't matter if in rocks, gravel, dirt, up hill, down hill, flexed, stuffed, wedged up against a rock etc. I had a situation today where my factory steering box would really struggle, this one just turned same way as if I would be on the mall parking lot, almost effortless. It felt really good to be able to turn with such ease.
Overall I am very impressed with it so far [emoji106]

I did: XDII steering box, New steering links with 2.5 Ton TREs, flushed and switch over to SWEPCO.

I run: 4" Lift, 37s, short arms

Good to know. I was going to ask, but wasn't sure if there was enough time to tell.

I'm running the same setup. Awaiting the new box to come in. Really pumped to finally have solid steering again.

I really want to embrace this!

But I'm struggling with understanding. Is this new box a better upgrade than just jumping straight to hydro assist? Seems like with the box, all the stress is still on the (beefed up) sector shaft and drag link. If I go hydro assist, I've minimized all the stress and have the extra benefit of the ram. I know you can add a ram later to the box, but that seems redundant to have both, especially since rams have functioned very well for many years.

Since upgrading steering is next on my list, I really want to figure this out.

The benefit over hydro is reliability. There are less parts to leak, lines to blow, etc. With the size of this box I don't think I wouldn't be worried about the sector shaft anymore.

For me, it came down to two factors, tire size and one less failure point. I only plan on running 37s and the XDll handles them very well, even locked up and buried in sand and mud. Rocks were easy for it. The second of having one less system to fail whether it was the ram or extra lines was also appealing. If I was running 40s or planned on it, I would have gone towards the ram, which I can always add later. But for me this has been the correct route.
