PRESS RELEASE : Meet The New Jeep JK BIG BORE XDII-R

Hey, what size is the nut on the sector shaft? I gauged to with my adjustable wrench, it looks like 44, 45mm?

I ran into that problem last night too! I think it is 44. I will can PCS tomorrow to find out exactly what size. I couldn't find anyone locally to me that had anything close to that size and most mechanics are off this weekend. I put a big wrench on it and I'm sure I close to the 140 ft lbs with that to keep the project moving. I'll end up ordering that socket on amazon on Tuesday and torque when it arrives.

Yea, amazon is your best bet for the socket. I need to pick one up myself. I am planning to knock the whole project out in one day.

So what your initial impressions? I'm am so back and forth on the new box or just going with full hydro assist.

Honestly it doesn't fell all that much different than factory. I does fell a lot firmer when turning the wheel, feels like turning the wheels on a truck now and not a wimpy minivan. I also switched over to SWEPCO power steering fluid as it says directly on a tag attached to the steering box not to use transmission fluid. It's more dense than ATF fluid, that might make a difference. I also upgraded my steering links to 7075 aluminum tubes with 2.5TON TREs.
I got the ported box in case I ever want to add the ram, it could be easily added without having to remove the box again.

Like VeruGE said, it is like driving a truck now and not a mini van. Even more so than the original Big Bore XD felt like. I have not had it locked down on rocks or sand yet, that will be the test, but I'm sure it is stronger that the XD and that turned the 37s just fine in difficult situations. Like we did, if you go this route, you need to upgrade your drag link or it will bend. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm gonna go with hydro assist. Probably just send my box in to be ported and rebuilt not sure on the details of that.
I just heard from a friend on jkx that one of the new xd2 boxes is having the same issues as his previous two xd boxes. Fingers crossed it's an isolated issue [emoji1374]

What were the exact problems on the original XD box. All I found online was just bunch of talk about the problems, no solid answer on what those problems actually are.

Mine would allow air into the system. I had to purge it ever couple of weeks to keep it tight so they replaced it. I'm not sure what other issues were out there.

Well, let's hope this won't happen with this box. I did a little inspection today and it seems like I have a very small leak coming either form the return line right before the reservoir or the line going from the reservoir to the pump. I need to address that asap. Also very slight whine coming from the pump which is intermittent. I wonder if it would be a good idea to look into upgrading the pump and lines.

Journeyman....please don't post about my box here. If I wanted info to be spread on the web I would post it myself.

Don't be that guy.

Why would you not want to let a forum you're active in know the issues that you are having?
Plenty of people are considering this box, and certainly if I had received multiple dud boxes I'd be saying something until PSC acknowledges the problem instead of just shipping out more shit.
I'd also be pissed if I wasted my time ordering one because I didn't hear any negatives about them, just to have the product fail multiple times.

Because what he posted wasn't correct!!!! I have no issues at this time with PSC products.
