PIGINJK8 build

Cant wait to see what you do with the top, looks awesome and hilarious at the same time right now. Not that there are many JK8s out there, but kinda surprised no one jumped on an idea of some kind of top for them by now.

What would be really awesome is to make the panels or window lift up on a set of gas struts so you could access the front of the bed. Maybe a glass shop could make a set of tempered glass panels to size?

I don't think there's a big enough market for any company to sink money into product development. So I'll have to come up with my own solution.

I have a very simple solution for this. Soon as I know it'll work, I'll post up. [emoji51]

Man if I knew how to fiberglass it and make it look good, I would.

I have some other ideas how to close it in...

All this so my Husky can go out with us...[emoji4]

Maybe go to a car audio type shop they usually have guys who are skilled in fiberglassing enclosures(at least the one I worked at did) for subs a couple Windows should be a piece of cake for them! Or maybe get some rear half door tops and fab something so they fit in there?

You read my mind. They should fit and that's part of my plan [emoji51]

Ha ha well I saw a square opening... And figured why the hell wouldn't they fit ha ha. I don't know how the half door uppers attach but I'm sure you could maybe build a frame inside the half door upper then maybe attach it with a gas strut like others mentioned.
Just spit balling but if the bed rail of the JK8 has holes in it like the factory rail does you could use the factory door surround with temporary clips or a couple bolts and washers to hold it in so you could use the uppers with out any other mods.

Alternatively, you could have some glass or plexi cut at a glass shop. Hinge the top and put a locking mechanism on the bottom with a t handle...basically like the rear window on a camper shell.

It's the same rail, no holes but nothing a drill can't fix. More than likely I'll bolt it to the top as well. I'll be using best top uppers as they are a lot cheaper. The other issue is the gap between the front door and the rear upper since the B pillar was removed.

However I'm going to buy replacement pillars and cut and fit to sit on top the bed side I'll just mount them to the factory cage like a door surround.

In theory I think it'll work just fine.

I like that idea to hinge them (rear windows) possible a small tool box for tow strap etc..

That might work great. I was also thinking of aluminum to save weight. I'm tossing the idea around for a shovel and axe mounts on the sides.

Frankentop. [emoji6] You'll be able to unzip the windows? That sounds cool so you can take your dog out. [emoji106]

Too bad they don't have rear soft top with the slider windows.

If the damn dog only behaved as well as your kids, we would be in business.. Lol

I've been thinking about this long before I bought it. Originally I was planning on building this with it.

You can have sliders made, it's just $$$$$$
