NEW EVO MFG Product Spy Pics

Nope, I only give facts. No hearsay, rumors, forum myths or legends. You just keep telling yourself whatever you need to sleep good at night :naw:

Haha, I only have my masters in this field, investigate weld failures, and deal with microstructure on a daily basis, but you must be right and I'm surely wrong...

You only need so much strength, anything beyond that is overkill. Just like I wouldn't put extremely expensive high alloy steel sliders onto my jeep, I also don't require them to be welded. My company uses lots of bolts and lots of welds. Bolts suffice for a LOT of instances. Anything beyond "enough" strength isn't necessary. Also, metals have compromises. You can only add so much strength before you begin to decrease impact resistance and raise the cost (due to increasing alloy composition and heat treatment operations).

Okay Mr metallurgist with a masters and prefers bolts; try this instead (in fact Eddie is doing right now) use a fucking reciprocating saw, and then angle grinder with flap wheel to clean the area. Holy shit Masters Degree, did you ever think of possibly doing that. Every time someone starts the conversation with their resume as the lead in, you lost me.

Haha, wow. That's a little unwarranted.

It is that kind of debate. And I respect Greg and have gotten a lot of good advice from him on numerous topics. I think he is extremely knowledgeable about jeeps. But I expect some respect in return when it comes to my expertise. I'm a metallurgist and my current role is failure analysis. So anytime someone breaks a Cat, my team investigates why it broke. So I get to see screwed up metallurgy all the time.

You're a metallurgist with a Master's degree who works for CAT? Wow! I had no idea? Have you mentioned that before? :idontknow:

:cheesy:

Cool. Then ignore my advice. Credentials are important in science, apparently on jeep forums credentials don't matter. As a scientist, I'll continue to state my credentials as it proves I have at least a general understanding of the topics I speak on.

LOL! I'm going to cut you some slack because I'm guessing you are sleep deprived with the new arrival (congrats BTW)... but IMHO you really need to not take things so seriously.

I like hearing your opinions. In fact, I'm still waiting for your opinion on the hyrdo assist. :thumb:

It's badass, but doesn't like extremely fast turns side to side. But this is neither the time nor the place for that review. And yes, sleep deprived and cranky.
And thanks!

Not really. Just so there is no confusion, I'm not saying a bolt on item is not sufficient. In the case of sliders, which is what this is about, you are going to eat crow all day long with your bolt on sliders. The ones you are running are probably the best...but thats the bolt on category.

Well if they ever fail, you will be the first to know with a heartfelt apology. However I don't think that will be necessary.
