It is definitely no ok or normal for oil to puke out of the breather tube. the oil level should be lowered to the level indicated on the dipstick. Do you know who did the last diff oil change?

It's not a big deal if its coming out. It won't hurt anything. Just makes a mess.

I have heard it both ways. It's bad for the pressure of the extra fluid in the diff on the gears and the seals. And I've also heard it's ok for the fluid to come out of the breather tube. I'll call ARB to see if that spot on the stick is a fluid level.

Thank you guys for your input. :yup:

Im not saying its bad for the axle, im saying its not normal. fluid should not be high enough to come out of the breather. its not as bad as in the engine where you have reciprocating parts that can dip down into this fluid but the expansion should not puke out of the breather... That oil will eventually collect dirt and clog up...

I dont think it's normal either. The fluid is coming out due to the pressure and heat the gears are creating. When the guy put in the fluid we put in exactly what was suggested which is

Front Dana 44
2.7 pints (1.35 quarts)

Rear Dana 44
4.75 pints (2.375 quarts)

I think the ARB cover may be limiting the amount of fluid needed???

I got my answer from ARB. They do not mark the dip stick with a fluid level but the tech said it should be level with the top of the axle tube. I'll have to get the Jeep on level ground and check it out further.

I fill mine up to about a 1/4 height of the axle tube.

I think thats about where mine is too. I just matched it to the OEM cover.

Are you just now changing the oil after the gears were done? You waited a lot longer than I did.

We are Jeep..Resistance is futile..

Diff oil is coming out of the breather tube and the amount of volume it's coming out isnt right. I dont have a OEM cover to messure from so that's a little difficult. If I do drain the diff, I'll be installing the Synergy ball joints which I'm not sure If I have the time for.

Hold your dipstick on the outside of your cover at the position it will be when you check your oil level, mark it at 1/4 above the bottom of the axle tube.
Refer to this Project-JK write up for info and required oil capacities of your diffs.

Its been like a week now and you havent made a peep. You arent still holding the dipstick, are you?

Can you hold my stick for me?

I've been busy with work, working over time to pay off the girlies toys for x-mas. My next step is to get the sliders started but it requires to take it over to Vick's shop and weld up the two brackets. Of course he would like for me to drop it off at his shop on a Monday and pick up the Jeep later on in the week.......It's possing to be a problem. Then there is the ball joints which will take a good two days. I was hoping to be ready this year but does not look good.

Hilarious! This made me giggle out loud....

Giggle!!!!! :cheesy:

It should only take 2 hrs, not 2 days for the ball joints. I can load my welder up and come weld those sliders for you, I need the practice,lol..

I dont think 2 hours is going to get both sides complete. Hell your tires took all day!!! I dont have a problem getting them welded onto the frame, it's the rear bracket that I have to get fab'ed up to avoid the rear control arm.

Let me know when you ready to do tires again.. I'll be swapping to the new wheels when I get home, I'm getting a slide hammer to break the beads myself this time though. All day is what you get with beadlocks, takes time and patience to work the rings down. That guy in Clovis charges $65 a wheel to mount them.

Did you save any for Tammy and I? We working today, dont even have time to stop for a sitdown dinner.

But seriously, I'm not complaining. There's guys on deployment that didnt get today off either.

Hey Guys,

Well I've been working like a mad dog and have to say that my Jeep project is currently on the stand still but should shortly be picking up. I'm hopping my wife bought me the EVO front bumper along with the EVO stinger. Take the rig from wifes socker rig/ mall crawler to a rig that wants to accomplish dirt!!! :idontknow: Hope everyone had a great Holiday and the next isnt to far away, so I'm hoping for that bumper. I do however need to get with the local guy to get those two new brackets welded up for the EVO sliders. Really looking forward getting those on and then I'll be ready get look forward to the snow runs coming up.
