Jeep Pausing Wrangler Production

I'm 100% in agreement, but these EV drivers conveniently avoid paying any road taxes (in PA it's roughly 58 Cents/gallon) AND they get subsidies to buy the damn things. Federal is up to $7500 and in Pa there's an additional $3000.

Gotta figure some way to make it even out for the rest of us
Oh yeah I’m not disagreeing with you but my son drives a freaking Kia Forte and he gets a hundred dollar a year (adjustment) added to his registration. Subsidising electrics is a huge boondoggle as is ethanol. Bottom line is if the government is for something it’s probably a bad idea.

I’m glad they don’t pay. The idiots in office want to push Al this green shit and then find out they can’t collect any money from them. The beat themselves at their own game.

He hit the nail on the head here:

“Stellantis is an interesting mix of brands,” Mr. Drury said. “No lineup is truly a full lineup. They exist in a different space than Ford or GM. They don’t have a product cadence people are truly excited about.”

The chief complaints that would-be Wrangler and Gladiator customers voice are about the high price of both vehicles and the technological bloat that’s crept into them.

As someone who literally tries to make a living selling CDJR products, it is in fact the case that we get countless people in looking at Wranglers in fact - but they are just too damn expensive and it just really sucks to see them walk away from their dream vehicle to go buy the Kia Forte across the street.

That's exactly what has happened. The shit economy adds to it too. I think even people that can afford the high Jeep prices give it a lot more thought and reflection now based on the cost of other expenses outside vehicle ownership.

Great article and one that echoes exactly what we've all been talking about here and for years. Jeep has totally lost its way and are no longer making vehicles for its base/core audience. Long gone are the affordable and rugged machines that were purpose built to help their owners get out into the wild and have some fun. And, coming from a guy who currently owns 9 Jeeps and has continuously bought multiple new Wranglers and now Gladiators for over 25 years, I am sad to say that I may never buy another new model.

Other than rebuilding existing older Jeeps, what is the future?

Ford Bronco seems to have many of the same (or worse) issues as the Wrangler. The new Toyota Land Cruiser looks nice, but it (and the new Forerunner) addresses a different market. The 70 series Land Cruiser is a better fit for what people want to do with their jeeps, but Toyota do not sell them here. All the other 4x4 SUV products/brands which might fit where a Jeep does are even more expensive than a Jeep. The Ineos Grenadier is interesting but has certain deficiencies which make it not as good as Wrangler for what we do here, and make it more unpleasant to drive in the highway.

In my opinion, the whole market has gone adrift, and it is not solely a Stellantis problem.

I don’t know. I think the article is good and kinda on point. However the same writers just a few years ago were spewing the opposite. “Potential Jeep buyers are reluctant to purchase because of the lack of technology and bare bones interiors.”
JD power, consumer reports etc etc.
All droning on about loud interior, road noise, terrible stereo system and antiquated infotainment systems.

Welp, Jeep listened and now people are shocked the prices went up? lol

"More than 2.1 million Wrangler JKs have been made since production started in 2006."

There shouldn't be a problem finding a good Jeep at a decent price. :sneaky:

LOL - I'm all about improvements, love the ones that I have and totally understand that they come at a price. What I'm not all about is the fact that what you get today is the ONLY option available and not shocked in the least that Jeep is hurting because of it.

Seems a lot of people will be looking if things keep going the way they are.
I look at used Jeeps almost on a daily basis and can tell you that a vast majority of owners think very highly of their shit. Prices on most JK's are especially way too high and to the point where buying a new JL would make more sense. Of course, the LJ and TJ market are just stupid.

I see Stock 2017,2018 JKUR's with around 50k miles going for 30-35k.... 2024 JLUR's around 50-53k. JK's are still a good option for people that want to get into wheeling. Used JK's and JL's are the future... unless Jeep pulls their head out of their Ass.

Unless you have a good credit union, it's hard to find someone who will finance 30-35k on a used private party sale and if you have 30-35k cash in hand, to me it makes more sense to just put a big down on a 50k+ new vehicle and then have much lower monthly payments. But then, that's just me. I don't have a lot of hope that Jeep will pull their head out of their ass so there's that though.

For sure... that 30-35k number though is from a dealer that can finance... Rubicon V6... Just what I've seen. Haven't looked at private sales. I would assume people with Cash on hand could get some great deals on both JK's & JL's in private sales. Really sucks we even have to have this conversation... We were all so pumped when the JL's came out... I don't think that level of excitement will happen again.

Haven’t seen too much of that from a dealership. Typically, I’ve seen much higher. Just did this quick search locally and as you can see, it’s just for a 2-door.

Sadly, most people who want to wheel will end up buying a side by side.
