Jeep Gladiator Dash Electronics Flipping out

Our old 2018 JL had the same issue with the buttons blinking on and off. Turned out the switch module was defective. To correct the issue, the dealer replaced it under the factory warranty.

Is this Jaws or the new Gladiator?
Jaws
Certainly acting like a loose ground, have you checked for loose fuses, auxiliary battery?
Like I said on post #10, the first thing I did was check the battery cables to make sure they were on tight and then checked all my ground bolts - the two on the frame and the ones on the fender just in front of the battery. After that and with no change, I pulled the main battery and checked my PCM connections as well as the leads on the auxiliary battery. All checked out.
I agree. Or a loose harness. Something got jostled around.
Did my best to check what I could and so far, nothing looks loose.

Moby in the corner just laughing, shaking his head and waiting for his turn to lead the troops to battle again.
HA! Moby has some issues of his own too 🤪
Every time I had a similar experience with my JK it turned out to be loose wiring on and to the battery. You say your connections have all been double checked. What about the battery itself? Internal injury from the rattle battle? Just spit balling since I am no electrical type. Ghost in the machine is a bitch.
Yeah, first thing I checked. A real pain in the ass.
Did you check the body control harness and its connections?
Sorry, which one is that? LOL Been checking everything I could.

Wait, did you pop the top off the fuses and relays?

You may have shaken some shit loose in there.
As I stated earlier, I only removed the top AFTER I had this problem and wasn't able to find anything obvious. Nothing is loose there.

Well damn, I do remember that. When you had this problem, did you have other issues as well or just light blinking?

Just an update on things. Did some research and found that after disconnecting the battery for a long time, the Infotainment system can really get out of whack and do a lot of what I was seeing. I also found that it can take as much as 24 hours before things get back to normal. And, being that we needed to get back up to Carson City, I just wrapped things up and called it a day.

Yesterday, I started up the Gladiator and surprisingly, things were a bit better. Right off the bat, there was no weird pulsating sound coming from the subwoofer, the Infotainment system fired right up, no heater was on and I even had a rear back up cam again. Once on the road, a few things acted up again like the blind spot being disabled and the radio only kind of worked, steering wheel radio controls didn't work either and none of the center stack controls worked but at least, the Jeep drove and without other issues.

Now, here's the crazy part. The longer I drove, the more things came back to life - the more things became normal again. After about an hour or so, my radio worked, my climate controls worked, I no longer was getting blind spot errors or anything. Really weird stuff. However, when ever I stopped for gas or the like, a couple of things would act up again but just for a moment and each time, it was less and less. The only thing that's still not right is the right rear tail light is out error and that was the very first thing we saw when all this started. From about half way home on, I could hardly tell that we ever had a problem at all. Totally crazy!

I should note that I did talk to a friend who would be in the know and found that the can hub can crack at the circuit board and cause a lot of what we were seeing.

This is something I plan on replacing and with the hopes it will fix things but... only after I fix yet another problem 🤪

Yes, intermittently some functions did not work. For instance, the HVAC and heated seats would not turn on. Then after the Jeep sat for a while, everything would be fine.
Okay, now we're talking. That's EXACTLY what we were seeing only, we have about 70k miles on the odometer so I don't think this will be a warranty fix LOL. Guess I know what I'll need to be ordering up. Thanks for the help!!

Thanks to this comment that piginajeep made on the battery replacement thread...
It seems the tazer was giving it issues, I need do update it and reinstall to see if this was the fix
I decided to give it a try as well, removed my Tazer, updated it, reinstalled it and... things are actually looking a LOT better!! In fact, I'm almost afraid to get too excited because I really didn't think it was the problem.

I should note that I do believe that part of the problem I was having is that my Infotainment system has been trying to do an update but every time it started to wig out, it'd get interrupted and that kind of made things worse. Whether or not Tazer was causing this, I don't know but I am cautiously crossing my fingers that things are better now.

when my infotainment unit kept trying to do the update, it screwed things up and took at least 6 attempts of failed updates before it finally quit trying to do updates.

Luckily it did not brick the unit as I was told by Jeep cares is a possibility or they were trying to scare me into taking it to the dealer for the update at a cost of $150 (not covered even though it's their crappy Uconnect update)

I don't think the update ever succeeded as the version numbers didn't change, it just quit trying to update after several fails and forced reboots.

Great news, it’s a start. It kinda makes sense, the tazer is basically changing a line code in the Jeep, if it’s trying to boot and keeps going out of sequence due to the tazer it won’t update.

My thought anyways, and mine is worked all day today.

Yeah, makes sense for sure especially with all the updates that it kept wanting to do. I kind of wonder if the roof rack I have wasn't helping anything as it tends to block radio signa too. The only thing I don't understand is what caused everything to go nuts in the first place. I replaced both batteries back in August and never had a single problem. I only started seeing all the craziness after wheeling hard in the desert a few weeks back. As in, I'm not even 100% sure sure the problem is actually fixed.

Just thought I'd post an update on this thing for anyone who's interested.

Here's what I've done since first experiencing this problem:
1. Check the battery lead connections at the terminals.
2. Check all the ground connections along the fender and frame rails.
3. Replaced CAN hub.
4. Gave it time and miles.
5. Disconnected Tazer/Updated/Reinstalled.
6. Checked door connections.
7. Swapped out passenger side tail light with my other Gladiator.
8. To the best of my ability, I have traced all the wiring looking for chafing or other issues.

While things are "mostly" better, I am still seeing "Blindspot Unavailable" errors that pop up randomly as well as "Passenger Side Taillight" being out. And I should note, I can drive for long stretches of time without any issues and then out of nowhere, those things rear their ugly head.

I am totally stumped LOL

Eddie. Check all the plugs for the controls in the dash. Specifically the parking assist button. Whatever it’s called.
My diesel jt came from the factory with that plug half seated. Everything was fine but then shit started going haywire like your describing. I did lose random dash controls in addition to chimes and lights as well though.

Thanks for that Dan! I didn't know you had issues like this too. I actually ordered a new center stack after Tony mentioned that his was bad from the factory and caused similar issues. I "should" be getting it today but may start pulling things apart just to see if I can find anything obvious in the mean time 👍
