Coming up to Speed With Grubbicon

I think this is what everyone's thinking of, but it doesn't work with the iPad. Although you may be able to mount their monitor the same way.

Well got some stuff done today. First started by finally getting the press and putting it together. I then pressed out the studs on the rear hubs and then press the new ones in.

When I was pulling them off I destroyed the seals on them so I replaced those when they were off. I was going to replace the bearings as well, but they seemed fine so Im just gonna roll with it. Worst case Ill pull it back apart later. I then moved to putting both hubs back on after I got the last of the old seals off the spindles from where they split in 2.

After I did that I put both the rear tires on for shits and giggles. Came out to be 88" from outside tire to the other, but there is no rotors on it so it will spread out to 88.5 or so even though that aint gonna matter much at that point. If all goes well tomorrow im going to start trying to mount the ORIs in.

I also had my shock tab mounts for the axle side show up today from Artec.

Lastly I ordered lockers today I got Detroits coming for the front and rear. If this guy shows up tomorrow to buy my stock axles like he says im going to order gears and rebuild kit tomorrow.

Awww. The beauty of having the right tools. Good job.

Well the other day I forgot to mention it, but I ordered the gears. I got Yukon 5.38s for the front and rear as well as the warranty. I kinda doubt Ill break them, but for $45 apiece Im gonna go for it. I also got the Yukon master rebuilds. For reference of others I couldnt find a 5.38s for the sterling 10.5 to save my life from any company. Well I eventually contacted friends running 5.38s in theirs and I was informed you have to get the sterling 10.25 r&p. Apparently it uses the same carrier and its all the same other then the obvious quarter of an inch smaller ring gear.

Im going to order diff covers in a day or so and then ship the knuckles out to the machined. After that I will have pretty much everything I need other then driveshafts. Im sure there will be a few extra little things, but driveshafts will be the last big expense.

Awesome build man! Cant wait to see it back on all 4s.

Thanks man and me neither. Its been since the beginning of September since Ive drove it.

I kinda know how you feel man. Mine is sitting in storage right now. Can't wait to get back and start modding mine!! For now I have to live in envy of all these awesome build threads on here! :thumb:

Im sure that's extremely painful. At least you will have an idea of what you want and dont want when you get to it.

How do you like your PSC Cage?
Personally I like it. I got it because im not a huge fan of the rock hard cage. The main complaint I have with this cage is the hard doors pretty much ride the side plates about 3/4 of the way up. I plan to get a tube bender shortly and once I get good with it im planning on adding on to it to make a full cage all the way to the back as well as tie it into the frame.

Do you have any issues with the PSC cage squeaking? I have heard that was a complaint. Didn't know if that was install issue on their part or not.

Mine squeaks a very minimal amount. Mostly from the doors hitting the plates as was mentioned. The door just needs to be adjusted out a bit but I've been too lazy to do so. I also tied mine to the windshield and the frame though.

This right here thats all the noise I ever really notice. I never tied mine into the windshield and Ive never had a problem. When your going down the road in mine at certain speeds when the whole jeep shakes you can see the cage move back and forth across the dash. Does your do that since its tied in up top?

Sorry to photo bomb your build thread, but I have to give you credit for the red carrier idea...Glad I saw it on your thread!

Finally got the front axle shafts out. From what Ive read a pry bar between the tube and the shaft and you can pop it right out. Im not sure what I was doing but that was just not working for me (ended up bending a couple pry bars). I ended up hammering out the seals on the knuckles and was able to then basically just pull the shaft right out.

Thanks, I like the how the PSC Cage is built, but I do not know much about them and have heard mixed reviews of how it does not connect to the windshield. Thanks for the information.

Before a bunch of excitement showed up I ended up getting the knuckles off of the front. Tomorrow I hope to press the ball joints out and sand blast them. After that I will get them shipped out.

My Yukon gears and master rebuilds showed up today. I cant imagine how my jeep will drive when its actually geared right.

Your welcome. I doubt you could go wrong with either the PS or the Rock Hard or any other cage you may be looking at.

No it doesn't move at all that I can tell.
