Coffee Drinkers & Bean Grinders

Really? I know they promote Vet owned but didn't realize they do it in an offensive way. I realize I'm a Fucking East Coaster, but are they looked at in a bad way out in your neck of the woods??

Not a California thing just a me thing. Just not a fan of them and their antics.

Do you find that offensive? Not asking with an accusatory tone, just curious. IDK, maybe that would turn some folks off but honestly it doesn't bother me. I'd rather support a Vet owned company than this, which has Snowflake written all over it.

I don't mean to start a Pro/Con Vet debate thread here but if someone has an issue with their policies I get it. Are they Pro-Vet? Sure, but it just never struck me that they were pandering.

The guy who started it isn’t actually a veteran. It may have some veteran interest vested but it is NOT a veteran owned company. The dude who started it was a contractor overseas but not a veteran. Not saying contractors don’t deserve respect but he is not a military veteran as they claim.

I’ve never had a cup of coffee in my life. That said, a friend of mine is a coffee roaster and also owns several local coffee shops in Reno called The Hub. If you pass through Reno and need some coffee, check out their Riverside shop. I hear from coffee drinkers that it is fantastic coffee.

I would order some but you can’t on their website. I enjoy trying all different kinds. Get bored with the same kind every day.

All fair points. Always seems to be "a rest of the story" out there that's good to know about.

This can be very true. Burnt toast is burnt toast all taxes the same and you can never tell if it was white, wheat, rye, or sourdough..haha.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this. Sure, some of the publicity could elude to that. However, they don't stand behind the entitled whoa-is-me veteran mentality. They openly speak out against that. Unfortunately those who fall into that category can't see that and think they are repping them too, so yes I see your point.

Lol everyone has their opinions but they wear that shit on their sleeve. People are always welcome to spend their money how they want. Me, I’ll save the money on overpriced coffee for something else.

He claims he was an infantryman and then a green beret, before becoming a contractor. May be true. But he wouldn’t be the first guy who lied to sell a product.

It’s damned good coffee, though. I don’t buy it that often, because it isn’t exactly inexpensive.

It is good coffee and yes it's expensive but your going to pay 10-15 per lb for most good coffee. I see it this way, my wife would go to Starbucks 4-6 times a week, I'd go 1-3 times. At $3.50+ each trip, not to mention if she had the kids they would want something too and gas to get there, thats $70-$126+ a month. At $49 a month I get 4 bags shipped to my door. I haven't been to Starbucks in months and she goes maybe once a week with co-workers. The last time she went she said she doesn't even like the coffee anymore..haha. There is another thread about FIRE. I think this logic plays right into that..[emoji6].

A lot of special forces/ops guys do this as they can make far more than the military pays, for doing the same or less job.

I almost went there to get my first cup but ended up not because I didn’t want to have to run errands after[emoji23], either way it’s maybe 1.5 miles from me so I might modify my run so that I can swing by there🤙🏾 don’t they have food there as well?

You lost me at that post right there. I know I’m not military but I do know that’s a diss to any people serving or who have served. Doesn’t that still count as stolen valor?

I don’t know anything about the guy. I’ve read that he claims he was in the infantry and special forces, then became a military contractor, before starting the coffee company . Overlander says the guy didn’t serve in the military and his story is BS. I don’t know which is true.

I would have to assume his story is true. With as much attention he receives someone he deployed with would call BS. The only thing I could find that stated he was a contractor was a 2 year old article in Forbes.

I’ve been a pour over guy for a long time now, love the simplicity of it, produces a fantastic cup of coffee! Just picked up this Bodum coffee maker and current favorite brew is Lavazza Kilimanjaro.View attachment 292264View attachment 292265

Saw this post and did some research on it last night. Long story short I now own this same one and it's probably the best purest cup of coffee Ive tasted. Plus I love how it doubles as a pitcher. Iced coffee for me tomorrow 😏

That’s awesome! Exactly why I like it as well, the process doesn’t alter the flavor profile and it’s super simple to clean the filter and flask. Buy yourself a good bottle brush to keep the flask clean, there’s no other way to get down to the bottom.

Thanks for the tip! I was wondering about that. I really enjoy Kona coffee's so I got a light roast and had a little to taste. The filter was clean in like 15 seconds so I was happy about that

If you like Konas coffee you should order some Mauigrown. One of the best I've had. Just expensive to ship so order enough to make it worth it. I think last time I checked it was $10 to ship one lb or $13 to ship about 3 lbs
