Diff cover arrived. Now I’ll be able to make sure I have clearance for my gas tank

I believe that is a pulley-less snatch block. So the rope goes through it and just rides on the smooth surface

Sent from my iPhone using WAYALIFE

Close, the blue aluminum piece is a pulley. You can't see the Grove in it in the picture. The winch rope goes over the pulley, and the pulley spins on the soft shackle.

The yellow block slides up to allow the hook to pass, then back down to keep the rope on the pulley.

You would need it to move as a pulley, otherwise you defeat the purpose of mechanical gain using a pulley...

I like the idea of soft shackles...I saw a couple guys wrap them on their front axle and hook their winchline to it as a suck down winch while trying to go up Widow Maker on Metal Masher last EJS (no, none of them made it...they pulled line)...the bottom of the hill was so badly dug out from buggys I decided to pass on it...

Rolled my housings under the chassis to get an idea of room. The axle is sitting about 5” lower than it will at ride height. I’ll have plenty of room between the axle and the gas tank.

I also pushed the front under to get an idea of how this will sit vs my CAD drawings from a year ago

Damn... I did it again. I’d probably be done with my CJ by now if I wasn’t buying other vehicles... I just bought a 1981 Ford C800 rotating boom truck with a 429ci and Spicer 5052A 5spd
