ALL in the Name of SAVING the PLANET

It's a tragedy that so much tax paying dollars were spent funding this bullshit solar power plant that ultimately resulted in the euthanization of thousands of endangered desert tortoises and countless birds and that the we'll never even get paid back for the loans but, I'm happy to see that at it is finally being shut down.

I'm also encouraged to see that the orange man bad is having a big hand in keeping more of this shit from destroying our precious deserts.

My only real concern is that the greenies don't see this for what it really is - A BIG FUCKIN MISTAKE and mainly because the MARKET isn't asking for any of it and that's why it needs to be so heavily subsidized. They see this as a necessary risk and one that just needs to be rethought - done differently and that they need to keep trying until they get it right

All government subsidies need to be cancelled. For everything.

Wonder if he’ll stop that massive loan to the foreign lithium mining company.

I'm pretty sure the orange man bad is trying to do just that. The article even says as much.

The article talks about how Brandon did a last minute push to make that happen but with the orange man bad in office, I think there's hope that it'll be stopped.

projects like this that completely overrode any endangered species or was required to produce a legit environmental impact study (any study for that matter would have brought up the fact that it was a losers bet) yet when it comes to protecting say ... all those homes in California they stop any prevention over some bullshit weed or fish that nobody but maybe a handful of people can identify.

There are also far more efficient ways to do geothermal plants but of course, that would require them to admit that abandoned well bores can still be useful without all the green expensive bullshit.

All those customers got conned with the "cheaper power" bullshit.

NRG Energy involved, guaranty they didn't lose a dime but made millions off the deal, even if they are forced to repay the loan (which they won't be) they'll walk away with millions in profits.

I hope Trump puts a stop to the Nevada lithium mine, that's another loser bet that if allowed to proceed will become an abandoned waste zone.

The future is leaning toward safe nuclear power. I’m no expert but from what I’ve read we’re way behind because it simply has the word “nuclear” in it. Other countries are already getting nuclear online. Not even to mention advancements in clean coal as another option in the mix. The solar fields on the way out to AZ are insane. 🤪

Nuclear is definitely what we need to pursue. Many Americans have an irrational fear of nuclear energy thanks to a couple of movies and the efforts of the Greenies. The U.S. Navy has been using it safely for years and several Euro countries produce the majority of their energy using it.

Clean coal is also a viable option.

The bottom line is cheap and effective energy is critical to modern life. Let the free market decide. If the Fed-Gov must mandate and subsidize something it’s probably not a viable solution.

I think nuclear is definitely where we should go but yeah, people are afraid of it since Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and more recently, fukushima.

Another article on Ivanpah closure. What a waste of $$$!

This shit just so pissed me off. All the destruction of desert and killing of creatures big and small and all in the name of "saving the planet" has always been weapons grade stupid and now, what do they have to show for it...

Agree. The greenies have made the cure for ‘fossil fuels’ worse than fossil fuels. They have a blind hate and really need to reassess their dogma.

How'd that work out again? 5 years you say?

Antarctic winter sea ice extent sets new record in 2014

October 7, 2014, the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) reported that Antarctic sea ice extent set a new record high for daily extent: 20.11 million square kilometers (7.76 million square miles).

It's not unreasonable to wonder how, if the planet is warming, Antarctic winter sea ice can set record highs
