Part 3


In addition to the siping, I installed 500 (125 per tire) Grip Studs because the ice is just so bad around here. I've tried them on another set of tires and am very happy. Last spring, I removed them to re-install this season on the new Procomps. Removal leaves a little mark on the tire but nothing I'm worried about.

Got about 6" of fresh, sticky snow today, and the tires are just awesome... I'm thinking even better than dedicated snow tires in these conditions because of the extra space between lugs. So I'm calling my experiment a huge success for now.

Part 2

Was pretty concerned about getting them but lots of jeepers around here swear they are the best mud terrains they have tried for the winter conditions we face. Found an offer I couldn't refuse so I thought I'd try them. I've got about 4000 miles on them now and I'm pretty impressed but it wasn't until now that I got to try them in snow and some nasty ice. My "mission" was to make a mud terrain tire perform well in these conditions. My other vehicle (honda pilot 4wd) is on studded Master Craft Courser snow tires, and my jeep is performing at least as well.

Part 1:

I ended up purchasing the Procomp MT2 tires & Got the center lugs siped about a month ago. Interestingly, the tires have quieted down a bit as a result. I have a coworker with the same tires who got his siped about 2 years ago. He swears the siping has made them wear longer but I'm not sure about that. I also wonder if different MT's respond differently to siping due to compounds, etc.

sorry...I just saw this now (and a bit late). I do not have a JK8...its is 6" shorter wheelbase, and all of the cab & bed cages are custom fabricated.

If you live in Palm Springs than meet me at the tram at 6 that way we can take a walk. Should be plenty of time for you to come home from your 9-5.

With 4.10 gears, you'll be fine.

I am looking for some advice. 2019 JLUR, sting gray, Stock tires/rims. Auto tranny. Warn vr10 on steel bumper and 2.5 in teraflex/falcon lift. I wanna go with 35s, like Nitto, pro comp, Toyo or even Cooper; and truth be told I like the black rhino rims, like the Arsenal and armory. Before I spend that cash tho I wanna make sure I’m not going to kill my daily driver. I recently saw Eddie’s vid about regearing for 37s. He mentions he would be ok with running those with the stock 4:10. I do highway and nh state roads a lot (much like the ones he drove on the Lobstah Quest journey), will be doing light wheeling when I can, but mostly it’s my daily driver. thoughts?? I’d like to know if the rig would be able to take the 35s without regearing and additional worrisome or expensive mods.

Yup, a Sport is a great way to go and maybe what we would have done had one been available when we were looking to buy what we could.

WOW!!! I missed seeing this message. Sorry about that. I actually put tone rings on the rear hubs of the 14 bolt. I'm only using the signal from the drivers side. I spliced the signal wire from the sensor into the signal wire for the ECU.

A couple years ago you led a newbie run at Rausch Creek on April 1st. You recommended the 101 class that is held there.
I finally got around to taking that class, but at AOAA. Great class really fun time.
