ZERO TOPAZ

Surprise! Cindy and I spent the weekend at the ranch. However, before getting going on Saturday, we decided to take a hike up into the BLM land behind us and here's a shot from a rocky outcrop, looking all the way back to where we came from.

Being that Ripley spent most of her time running around, up and down, to Cindy and then back to me, the first thing she did when we got back to the trailer was crash.

The main project for the weekend or at least, for Cindy anyway, was to clean up the barn site of Horehound, small bits of wood that we missed and filling in critter holes and leveling things out.

Still need to work on getting the bits of old foundation, rebar and footings removed.

Me, I spent a good amount of time doing more cleaning up the corral. Mainly, the nasty chain link fence that someone put up in it and cheap landscaping posts. This is what it looked like before.

And, this is what it looks like now.

My other big project for the weekend was to go through the forest and cut down some of the old downed trees. Before...

Of course, we celebrated our hard work and a much welcomed cooler evening with our very first campfire, of course, using some of the wood that I cut down earlier in the day. 😎

As some of you know, Cindy and I just added this lovely PJ dump trailer to the WAYALIFE family and we already put it to work today.

Oh so nice 👍🏻
Thankfully you don't have to pay to dump processed wood like you now have to in California. $50 a load here where I live, that's if you have 1 2x4 or a whole truckload. On the flip side, sure alot of lumber appearing in the desert around here, go figure.

Yep! Took a very small load, like 3 contractor bags to my local transfer station and they charged me $25… it’s no wonder the forests are dumping grounds.

Apparently it's the law that they have to recycle the wood, but they weren't doing it, now we get to pay for them to ship the wood off to most likely china to be recycled into their economy or sold back to us. At least that's what the dude at the gate told me, I don't know, he didn't look or smell like the kind of guy who has a degree in processed lumber lifecycles.
