Trying to learn, not arguing....can you explain? I figured that even if your steering is kaput, you can still drag a rig where you want it, or at least, enough to stick it onto a flatbed no?

Or, are we to now believe that you went back to the original place where the Jeep was "stuck", found a casing on the ground, and deduced through investigative prowess that the casing must have been that which housed a bullet you have not ever seen?

I didn't lie on that. It broke, and when you asked if it was bolted down on top I figured it was. When I found out he didn't I slowly backed away from topic lol

If you can't turn the wheels in the direction you are wanting to go, you won't get far with a strap. A lot depends on how far it will take to get to a flatbed or trailer, and how many turns necessary to negotiate. Of course, If you had a solid connection (tow bar) it would be much easier.

And why would I stop commenting? That's ridiculous. It's not his fault his steering and shaft broke. Not his fault he doesn't carry a spare sector shaft, nor his fault the tow truck that went out there couldn't get his jeep. It could be said its his fault that he didn't wheel with other trucks capable of rescuing him that night, or that he should've not put his job first before a hobby. But that's for you guys to judge. I'll continue to say to the ppl that say it's fraudulent or deliberate that your wrong and pretty stupid for over thinking something.

You guys thrive on ppl saying fuck this forum and fuck this guy and you guys suck, gayalife, I'm leaving this place etc etc. but I'm not them. I like it here and I won't let a couple dingle berrys deter me from this forum. Could it have been handled better out there? Yes that's apparent. And was his rig vandalized more then once? Yes that's apparent as well. I just chose to show the naysayers they were wrong. Showed them it stuck, fuse box, sector shaft, and any other shit they came up with. I have questions too? Why'd the enter the car and rip is Tuffy security box off the dash but leave the nav system? Why'd they steal a shit winch but not a nice bumper? Why'd they break a glass and then steal a door (may be different group)? Why'd they leave military spec jw speakers and poison spyder rear lights?

At that moment I believed I was being truthful, then found out that he didn't install it correct after the fact. I should've went back and said so but didnt want the heckling I'd receive

Your brother made 3 major mistakes that completely makes this his fault.
1. Not wheeling prepared.
2. Once his power steering fluid decided to spill out everywhere, instead of stopping and fixing the issue once it was caused, he continued on which is what led to his pitman arm breaking. (By the way, did he clean up the fluid spill or just say fuck it?)
3. Left his modded JK on a public trail overnight.

Had he done any of those 3 things differently, this wouldn't be a conversation. Moral of this story is that your brother is an idiot.

Not really. The fluid would have seized the pump first.

Um no, his pulley would snap off the pump.

I literally broke a line on the side of a mountain, drove off the trail with no power steering. I then attempted to drive 100 miles home. I made it about 60 and the pump seized and snapped off the pulley from the motor.

And that kind of what I was thinking. So how in the hell did the "sector shaft" (as he put it) break? Or is that still a mystery?

Well if he was jammed into that sink hole and was pushing hard on the steering to try and steer out I could see it. But if he blew a line. He must be hulk hogan to move that steering box and snap the sector shaft.

It was everything I could do to steer, hell my wife had to grab the wheel and help turn it.

I've seen some fucked up breaks, anything is possible.

Oh I definitely understand that crazy things happen all the time. No matter what the situation is with this story, it has to be one of the worst series of unfortunate events that I've ever heard.
 
My .02, if that were mine I would be praying the insurance would total it out at this point. Sure glad I don't live where assholes do that to other people's vehicles, if that is what happened. Jury is still out on that verdict
