WJCO's Build Thread, 1999 WJ

Zone Bracket worked out perfectly. Fixed my spacing issue and I can still open the rear glass with the tire on. Picked up some used tail light guards too. I've been wanting these for awhile and no one makes them anymore. I got lucky finding these on ebay.

Thanks guys. Just a heads up, after installing the relocation bracket, I tack welded the inboard studs to the nuts and tack welded the new Zone bracket to the inboard mounting plate. This thing won't be coming off. I just wanted to ensure extra safety as tire carriers can vibrate a lot.
 
The carrier looks good WJCO. Those rear light guards kinda stick out a bit on the sides. Seems like they'd catch on branches and bushes a bit don't they?

Thanks. I guess they could snag on branches. They're more for looks. But Google said my off-road efficiency just went up 12.79% so there's always that too. :crazyeyes:

Thanks guys. Test drove off-road today and they're solid. No rattles nor vibrations. Tire carrier is solid too.
 
Looks good. I have a stupid question. Is the entire block hot? So if you had to hook up jumper cables, would you just clamp on to the entire billet piece?

Thanks. Correct. They are hot. They are about an inch from the hood but I'm still contemplating putting a slab of rubber on the underside of the hood above the positive just because of my OCD.

They're not that far from you either. Based out of Sparks. My neighbor came over and already ordered some. He has a diesel with a trailer containing solar panels, inverters, generator, etc. He loved these things.

I enjoy building power distribution systems too. In my profession I'm often responsible for hooking up and laying out power distribution racks for entertainment lighting. We often have personal contests to see who can lay out the cleanest rack-lands. Our flavor of cable is 4/0 gauge for the power side. Doing clean work is important when you are pulling 3 or 4 megawatts from the local city utility. I can totally appreciate a clean wiring job, no matter what the size or scale.
 
I disconnected my new battery terminal last night to do some welding on the Jeep. The terminal came off easy and left all the cables in place. With the terminal off, the tiny allen set screw goes into the battery terminal about .125", as I could see the hole it left in the lead. So truthfully, I feel pretty comfortable that these terminals are going to stay on there pretty securely.
