Windrock Park - TN - January 24-25

Damn! Wish you guys were doing this trip in February lol

I'm moving to Chattanooga (permanently; getting out of the Army) for my new job on that weekend...but I'm super excited to check out all the awesome wheeling in TN!! I've heard so many good things about the area.

Maybe I'll run into you guys later down the road! Have fun and post up some pics in this thread!

There's some neat places around Chattanooga. Prentice Cooper is a state park with a whole bunch of trails. They're very easy but its a nice way to spend half a day with some very nice views.

Big Fork is mainly a public road with access to some public and private land. It's a bit sketchy, by sketchy I mean I wouldn't feel safe wheeling there by myself. Some of the trails here are crazy. Its located right past prentice cooper, you have to take a right where the McDowell Nursery is.

Adventure Offroad park is another option, just right outside of Chattanooga and offers a variety of trail ranging from easy to CRAZY. It's owned by the guy that runs Tom's 4x4 in Chattanooga. That's a nice shop to get install work done. Have fun in Chattanooga, it's a lovely city.

Thanks for the great info!! Now I'm really excited to move!!

No worries. May be you'll be able to make it down for another one!

If you guys use the Badge Of Honor app- you can check into a few of the trails up at Windrock and get Badge of Honor badges for those trails. Last time we were up there I completely forget about it until we were half way home.

So, I've been looking at the park map and there are a couple that they have listed as moderate that I'd like to try if everyone is down. I figure we all meet up Friday night and kind of plan out our day. Any one have any thoughts or trails they know they want to hit or don't want to hit?

In addition, my plan is to bring food for lunch out on the trail, just so everyone is on the same page.

We will def have food and water on board with us. I never leave home without it. lol

I will attempt any trail as long as my rig is able to make it.

I'll go anywhere you guys want to go, just as long as my stock Jeep an do it without tearing anything up lol.
And I always have food with me when I go out wheeling, you never know how long you'll be out there :thumb:

Thardy,

for those of us coming from the Atl area, any plans on meeting up somewhere north of Atl and convoying up? Like maybe Cartersville?

I'm game. What time are the Atlanta area folks thinking of heading up?

if my math is correct it takes about 5hrs from my place to get there. I am thinking about leaving around 1 Friday afternoon. That would put me at Cartersville around 2:30.

Man, what timing.

I just did 64 hours of driving and well over 3500 miles in the last week and a half. Over 30 hours and 2000 miles in the jeep from GA to Ok and back, plus the rest in my truck from OK to CO and back. Xmas at home and then skiing. I don't know if the wife will go for this trip. She hates the cold, but loves to ski - go figure.

I'll try to arrange it so that I can leave whenever everyone else is heading up. It'd be cool to have a caravan of jeeps.

Well folks, I hate to have to do this, but I thought I was going to be able to make the windshield repair last till after the trip. This morning it decided to grow about a foot right in front of my face, so that's not going to make it. Getting it replaced is going to take all of the money I had set aside for this trip. Again, I truly apologize for having to back out, but will do what I can, if needed, to help keep it organized. You guys have a great time and take lots of pictures!

Ahhh that sucks bro. I hate that especially after all the time you put into putting the trip together. Hopefully there will be plenty more
