WHO'S WINNING : Jeep vs Bronco

I know.

For years Ford "claimed" they made the best selling pickup (F-150) and they posted their sales numbers versus Chevy/GMC, and Dodge.

What they didn't post was their production numbers and percentage of units sold to those production numbers.

Ford made more units (F-150) than their competitors did, by a large margin.
🤔 they sold more units so they would make more units. What’s your point?

The point is, they didn't sell all the units produced. Not even close percentage wise. Ford just announces their sales numbers, not production numbers.

They only make their claim of best selling on units sold.

If you make 1 million units and sell 450,000, and your competitor makes 500,000 units and sells 350,000, the competitor wins.

Ford has a history of hiding their overstock, and selling them off as fleet vehicles because they didn't sell on lots.

Where I come from 450k is more than 350k. I don't really care how many units are made. Number one SELLING truck in the world. Not number one selling to produced ratio truck in the world.

I'm thinking I bought my last new vehicle with the 2021 GC we bought. It's pretty hard to justify paying $50k & up for a decent vehicle. Personally I'd like to go back to simpler less complicated vehicles but those days are long gone. Jut leave me the heated steering wheels
Exactly.

Jeep screwed the pooch with the gladiator. They could have absolutely OWNED the market. If they would have kept them bare bones at a reasonable price.
But 75k for a loaded Rubicon is asinine. Why would anyone in their right mind pay that instead of just buying a Super Duty 2/350? And never put a v8 in the damn things. 🤦‍♂️ which would have helped immensely. But again offered in all trim levels not just the fully blinged out rubicons like they did (wrongly) with the wranglers.

Not apples to apples. But it’s definitely something to chew on if you’re looking at trucks.

Jeep was the poor man or teenagers 4wd at one time, that’s the market for Jeep people, not a 100k 392.

Jeep needs a make a true Willy’s package that as basic as you can get, and sell it. The 4 door JK fucking ruined the market.
The problem is, Jeep is going full tilt on EV. In fact, the new and all electric Recon is supposed to be the Bronco Sport fighter. How much do you think it'll cost to actually make one of them? How many units do you really think they can sell? How do you help pay for something that nobody wants? You do it by upping the fuckin price of vehicles that people actually do want.

Jeep has lost there god damn minds. No one wants electric, not even the liberals. I’m just gonna grow my vintage collection. Maybe a 392 as well 😅.

It's almost like they are trying to sabotage their own brand so they have an excuse not to make Straight Axle Wranglers anymore.

Interesting topic for sure. Here in Florida Jeep Wrangler / Gladiator seem to rule the road despite the explosion of the Bronco for now. That said when the Bronco Raptor has more HP and still cost 10k less than the top of the line Jeep people will choose the Ford. Especially if 99% of them never leave the pavement. Despite the fact that it is less capable as well no Jeep wins that battle. When I head to the forest there are more jeeps than anything else out there followed by the Toyota Tacoma & 4runners. Very few Broncos. Rarely do I see them out wheeling or overlanding. I'd be interested to see if others sèe the same off road.

It’s not about how many they sell it’s about how many they make. Duh.

But I wonder which one is more profitable. The Wrangler doesn't have to outsell the Bronco to still be more profitable. If the wrangler can still be profitable and be a niche market, I think that's an okay strategy. It doesn't need to be everything to everyone. I'd rather it stay with the same formula, sell less volume but still be profitable to justify its existence than them make it IFS and try to beat the bronco in the poser war. If there was a gas version of the Recon, it would fill that niche nicely ever since the grand Cherokee went full minivan. Maybe with Stellantis's new leadership they will have some course corrections.

I still think the Bronco will be a fad like the FJ was. Although Ford seemed to learn some from the flaws of that monstrosity.
