Thanks for the input and yes a 20+5. I was thinking that would still give me plenty of room to mount some large storage boxes up front.

Nice! Mine is a 20’ deck over but no dovetail off the back, and the ramps just pull out of little doors on the back. The nice thing is with these ramps I can put them on the side too and get a golf cart in front of the Jeep

20’ should be great for 1 Jeep and still leave room for those weld in tool boxes you we’re talking about. What kind of ramps does it have?

It has full width ramps that lay flat when folded in. You can even pull back on to them and strap down if you need to. Here is a screen grab from their website.

Yes, spring loaded. Its between the suretrac and bigtex (both local dealers), and I’m going with the suretrac. It is more money but the added features and some extra bracing seems worth it. I’ll probably go next week to seal the deal.

When I was looking at the Deckovers I was looking at the Suretracs. Really well built. Hope it works out.

California is odd. Some things are easier, but don't worry, you will get screwed somewhere else to make up for it.

I like that my oversize permits are good 24/7 so I can run the big stuff at night when there are less idiots on the road.
 
Cali has signs up before their scales NO PICKUPS so I’d keep rolling by.

MS has signs ALL VEHICLES OVER 5 TONS ENTER

Each state is a lil different. Makes it a pain in the ass.

Private vehicles I’d just keep rolling by with the not for hire decals.
 
New tow rig. '20 3500 HD HO Laramie with the Night package. Our Ford gasser was not happy pulling the gooseneck and the Jeep. Pulled the alum horse trailer no problem at all, but every time I went on a wheeling trip, it would throw multiple cylinder misfire codes. Actually picked this up a few weeks back but took it to my buddies garage to go over & have a few things done. New tires too. Fun buying 6. Already has a 100 gallon aux fuel tank in the bed too. These things are like driving a freight train. The torque is unbelievable.
Have to say, if anyone is in the market and looking for a truck, do it. If you're lucky enough to find one, the trade-in values are flat out stupid.
