The building of Bison

I just have the fronts in now, and yes, all my tools, jack and frig are always in. I need to load 4 adults in to check. I was surprised how much preload I had to run to get back to the 4.5” spring height.

4.5 would be a lot of preload. My Jeep was somewhat heavy before I recently stripped a bunch of stuff off and I was at almost a couple inches of preload in the front. That’s with heavy springs and at 3.5” of lift. Now I sit at 3.5” with a lot less preload.

If your at 2” you need heavier springs in my opinion

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. It might need a heavier spring up front. The 4.5” referred to the coil spring lift height had, not the preload. I need to be around 4-5” of total lift height not to be riding my fox bumps.

I was adjusting them a bit more tonight trying to get it level. I added more preload to the passenger and with my sway bar unbolted it was level. When I bolted the sway bar back on I had to use a ratchet strap to draw it down in inch and get the bolt in. That caused it to sit back out of level. My slab in my garage is dead level. Any thoughts?

In one of Eddie's videos where Mel is putting the coilovers on the JL he explains what preload they prefer for the kings. I want to say he said 2.5 inchs of preload is what they like to see.

I don't know if this helps but It took me about three different times before I got my Jeep sitting the way I like it. I would make adjustments, drive it back and forth to work 50 miles round-trip and let the coils settle in then retweeted again.

I’ve never sat at 4-5” of lift, but if there is a way to sit lower I would. Maybe different bump stop blocks, mine are 3.5”. I just personally like sitting as low as possible, but it should not be that big of an issue at that height.

I adjust the coilovers without the sway bar links connected and then once it’s good I adjust the sway bar links on level ground to fit without prying. I use EVO HD adjustable links and they work great.

My blocks are only 1.25”. The nemesis fenders are the issue. To keep the tires out if the fenders, I need about 5”of up travel at the bump which creates the need for the 4-5” of lift.

You have the only slab I’ve ever seen that is dead level [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

It’s as close as I’ve got one of my projects🤣

A friend of mine owns a concrete company that specializes in pouring precision floors for factories which are laser level. This ones not quite that good, but he poured it flat as ice!

I asked them to pour my third bay completely flat, not even close, I think I could have gotten it more flat

I hate that. When you pay someone to do a job that you could have fine better yourself. It’s even worse with things like concrete that can’t be easily fixed.

The rear Coilovers are in. I just need to figure out the rear bump stops

IMG_3962.jpg

Even with 1.25” & 1.75” preload on the rears and 2.25&2.75” preload on the front, I’m still sitting with a substantial rake to the front. The front needs to come up about 1” or more. If I swap a 250 front spring for a 300, would that help to bring the nose up?

Lower the rears. I would also go 250/250 on the fronts and the rears if you plan on adding more weight

Sorry 250/300 in the front 250/250 in the rear. That’s what I’m running and it rides great. But yeah just lower the rear more. I wouldn’t want to go taller

Edit: I’m going to look tomorrow morning but I think I’m confusing myself at this point. I’m pretty sure I’m 250 all around

Looks great! I also have a little rake but I'm not messing with anything at this point. I may tinker later on.
