The build of Big Red (Knuckles)

Well nothing really major to knuckles as of recently. As I'm sure you saw with the whole noroad post about all my personal shit my life has changed. I started going to auto tech school a few weeks ago. My first class I'm in now is brake systems. So I changed my front driver caliper as it was starting to seize. Going to change the passenger side here soon as well. While I was at it I did a full brake flush of the system. The fluid was super dirty and ruined from the passenger caliper seizing up. Peddle feels much better.

Also adjusting my coilovers today. Will post pics here in a bit once I wrap everything up.

Good for you, man. Going to tech school was one of the best decisions in my life. My high school GPA sucked but at tech school I did great because I loved it. I also learned a ton of foundational automotive knowledge that you can't hardly find even in shops anymore. Hope you have a similar experience and learn a lot. :thumb:

While I no longer work at the stealership, I too went to a tech school (after waisting 3 years at a regular college) and I enjoyed it a lot. So I paid more attention in class and would've passed with straight A's but missed one too many questions on one of the finals. I still use the knowledge learned to this day.

I can see it now... (cue up the dreamy harp music).....ORE East Coast, by Coz!

Seriously, best of luck man. Everything for a reason, right?

Yea I'm really happy with my decision! I love my jeep and have always loved working on cars so why not do something with it. I'm already doing better in class now than I did in both high school and college because I'm paying attention more. Once I hit electrical class maybe I will learn something and be able to talk wiring with sharkey and yourself lol!

Yea I'm already learning more and doing better than I did in college. Once I'm done maybe I will try to get to a dealer out west.

Funny thing is that was the hardest for me to grasp in class. It wasn't until years later that another mechanic showed me things on a practical level on a vehicle (rather than reading out of a book), then it all clicked (no pun intended).

Good luck with all of it.

Ok so coilover time. I finally got around to lowering knuckles a little bit. I have been wanting to do it for so long now. Here is a side shot before I did anything.

Also took some measurements at the front bumper and at the rear just so I would know how much it lowered.

This is from dead center in the rear at my hitch.

I took .5" of preload out of both the front and rear so I'm at 1" (d) 1.25" (p) up front and 1.5" (d) 1.75" (p) in the rear.

Looks wise you can't really tell but driving wise it feels more planted which I'm happy about. Doing this also allowed me to retorque all my control arms since I wanted it to settle a little when I lowered him.

Looks like the front dropped more than the rear. Glad it's riding better.

Yea based off the measurements the front went down a whole 1" but the rear only went .5" which I'm fine with. Keeps a little take for when I load up with tools and people. If I'm not happy with the rear after a while I may take another .25" -.5" out of it
