The Adventures of Fiona - '08 JK Rubicon 2-Door

You know I love you guys. It almost felt like I was cheating. 🤣

Don, you had brought up the 24th (the Saturday after Thanksgiving) as a possible open date last we "talked"... This one is closer than DV and I think it ties into other trails as well. Greer may have better info on that than I do right now.

Heartbreak ridge is close. Nothing too crazy, but a fun little addition to fill out the day.

Sounds good. I'm guessing we can get through Mottino in a fraction of the time it took yesterday and still have time for a little more if everyone wants to.

I know the 24th may not be workable for you though, so feel free to throw out some options that work for you.

For sure. With 4-5 rigs, it’s much quicker. The 25th would work better for me. Family will have left by then. Or December 8.

Sounds good. Personally, it's usually easier for me to get out on a Saturday, but I'll leave it up to the general consensus and do the best I can.

If you want the GPS track, if be happy to send it over. 😎

As long as nothing goes too far wrong, either Saturday or Sunday would work for me.

Looking forward to wheeling with you guys again.

At this point James I'm pretty much open to wheeling whenever everyone decides

After running it for a couple weeks and now especially after having out in the rocks, I'm sorta kicking myself for not doing it sooner. 🙄

I'm the same with my hydro, it makes such a difference

I'd definitely like to do that as well

We've run into that before, a few of us get together and it goes surprisingly fast.
Another option just occurred to me, we should run the 5 Big Bear trails in a day... Before the snow flies

That would be fun. I’ve done Dishpan to Gold via Holcomb and JB a few times. Definitely doable in a day with a small experienced group. Would want to start early though, to be done before dark.

Finally got a chance to run Mottino Wash yesterday. Figured it would be a good shakedown run for the new hydro assist. 😎

Man, if you've never run hydro on the rocks, you don't know what you're missing! I finally lucked out and installed a mod that I didn't have to fuck with after the fact. Everything worked perfectly and nothing hits at full flex. Excuse me while I go find some wood to knock on. 🤣

Glad it all woked out so good for you.

Sounds like a good time.

When I first got my Jeep, I did Dishpan and Holcomb in about three hours. I could see doing all five in a day with a good small group.

I also did just Holcomb in about six hours with a group where everyone needed a spotter for even the easy "obstacles".
That was a drag

Rubicon would have taken four or five days with that bunch.

All 5 would make for a long day, but I'd be up to giving it a shot. 👍

Just curious what 5 are you talking about?

I'm getting anxious to get out again. Had fun with you guys on Gold Mtn. and I think I can push a bit harder. I'd like to do John Bull / Holcomb creek if you're thinking about goint there.

We've all been there. This time last year about 15 of us did Cougar Buttes, we didn't even make it to the usual lunch break spot by 3 pm... We just called it a day

If you figure in the travel time it will be a very long day. If we do it I may get a room just because.

We can also do something less critical time wise and include some less built Jeeps.

The 5 as I have heard it are Gold Mountain to Little John Bull to John Bull to Holcomb Creek to Dishpan.

NOTE TO SELF: Front and rear brake pads replaced at about 113K miles. Wagner OEx ceramic pads from O'Reilly's.

FUN FACT: O'Reilly's gives a lifetime guarantee on brake pads... Even if you go to metal. Unfortunately, they don't sell gasoline.

PREDICTION: O'Reilly's goes out of business within 5 years. 🤪

Just spent some time updating the first post to reflect Fiona's build. Damn, it's taken 2.5 years, but the planned upgrades list is almost empty.

The bad news is that the items left cost more than I paid for her! 🤪

The good news is, other than maintenance and (God forbid) repairs, I'm pretty much done spending money on getting her where I envisioned. Now, I'm not saying the build is done (it never is, right?) but this is the first Black Friday in two years that I'm not planning on spending any money on.

That said, I'm really happy with everything I've done to her and all the mods have really turned her into a beast that I am having a lot of fun with on the trails and on the road. Thanks to all of you here that have supported my addiction... Without y'all Fiona wouldn't be what she is today! 🍻
